Unfortunately I won't be returning because we ordered 3 appetizers, each appetizer on the menu was for 2, they brought one. Small plate for all six, terrible.

A little gem on the shores of Lake Averno, discovered by chance and a wonderful discovery. The owners and their staff are wonderful people. The value for money is truly excellent. For four of us, we ordered a mixed fried fish appetizer—one spaghetti with clams and three spaghetti with seafood—plus two bottles of water and one of wine, for a total of €90. Everything was excellent, the fish was incredibly fresh. Highly recommended; it will become a regular stop whenever we're in the area.

We returned to this place because we'd eaten very well in the past, and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, our second experience was disappointing, and there won't be a third. I'm not arguing with the price because we ordered an appetizer, two first courses, two second courses, a side dish, and a bottle of wine, and the view of the lake is priceless. But spaghetti with clams, tomato sauce, and canned cherry tomatoes is unacceptable, especially if you add basil to the top... These are the basics of the cuisine. The second courses were very good, the fried calamari was delicious, and the stewed octopus was also very flavorful. But how can you give the food such a high rating after such an embarrassing first course?

The restaurant, besides being very charming, overlooks Lake Averno. The atmosphere is very peaceful and serene, far from the noise of the city. It's surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere, greenery, water, cats, and ducks. Parking is nearby for just €2 for the whole day. The staff is very friendly, knowledgable, and easy to chat with. There are many dishes to choose from, both seafood and non-seafood, and many of the fish and shellfish were fresh that day. My boyfriend and I had spaghetti with baby octopus (creamy and so large it helped me finish it) and pacchero col coccio (it was a dish with a first and second course inside because the coccio was whole, and my boyfriend had to forgo the second course due to its fullness). A whole bottle of good white wine for the price of just one glass. A restaurant known for its long history but little publicity, but it's been around for a long time precisely because it's never raised its prices excessively and has kept the quality unchanged. It's a restaurant from another era, without frills or strange reinterpretations. My boyfriend and I hope it lasts forever.

I've rarely found myself giving such a high-quality review, but I have to give credit to a great, quiet, and high-quality family-run restaurant like this. The location is enchanting, the perfect backdrop of Lake Averno with ducks, kittens, and sunshine. The restaurant is wooden, with an old-fashioned style; one of those old-fashioned restaurants that have retained their essence. The menu offers a wide variety; we chose two first courses: paccheri with coccio (a kind of pasta) and calamari and shrimp; and spaghetti with octopus sauce. What can I say? Rare quality and freshness, a whole coccio (a kind of pasta) on one plate, and abundant octopus on the other. Both dishes were very, very generous, unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. White wine paired very well, along with water, berry cheesecake, and a lemon cream for dessert. The service was prompt and, above all, very convivial and friendly, with occasional pleasant conversation. An important note is the osteria-like price, a rare find these days. I recommend it 100% for the whole experience, I'll definitely be back. Long live restaurants like this, the true Neapolitan-Puteolana tradition.

A charming place with a wonderful view of the lake. The Caronte restaurant won us over with its relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, and quality food. Carefully crafted dishes, authentic flavors, and fresh ingredients. Attentive and friendly service, always with a smile. Ideal for dinner or lunch, or for spending a pleasant day with friends. We'll definitely be back; it was a truly positive experience!

A place that feels like home. The Caronte Restaurant welcomes you with a familiar and genuine atmosphere, just like a true trattoria of the past. Simple yet flavorful dishes, carefully prepared using fresh ingredients, reflect tradition. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always smiling, making you feel immediately at ease. An authentic experience, filled with good food and warm hospitality, that will make you want to return.

I was there on a Sunday, except for the very nervous lady behind the kitchen, but I understand her in part because many people didn't respect their reservation time... and then went and bothered those who did respect their reservations a few hours later.
The staff was very friendly, and the waiters had a manners that not everyone is good at. Despite this, I would return...

📌 The food was reasonably good quality and flavorful, despite the lack of several of the requested options (fried anchovies, Sicilian-style pasta, spaghetti with clams, some desserts).
📌 Disorganized and somewhat confusing service (napkins were missing; requested, never arrived, requested again, and then received). The atmosphere was familiar and informal, pleasant. The location on the lakeside is beautiful, better when less crowded, otherwise the noise is guaranteed.
📌 Negative note:
Let me start by saying we're animal lovers, but seeing cats at the tables eating leftovers from the plates of departing guests wasn't a nice sight. They'll even be washed in the dishwasher (I hope!), but it's unacceptable...
I'd probably go back; but not because of the cat issue, which poses a risk of food contamination.

At "Caronte," suspended between the mystical waters of Lake Averno and the rustling of herons, I found a harmony known only to the most ancient nature. The aromas of lake herbs dance like spirits on the palate, while curious geese and solemn cats keep watch like guardians of a secret temple. Each dish is a microscopic universe of life and wisdom, a bridge between the visible and invisible worlds. Here, I breathe in the eternal: earth, water, and sky merge in pure gastronomic ecstasy.
