A small treasure in a fairytale village in the heart of Sorano. Unforgettable experience of local food and wine. Highly recommended!

I can "understand" the negative reviews because it is clearly not a place for everyone, including me. But precisely because it is clearly not a place that focuses on quantity but on quality these do not make sense. First of all, it is not easy to reach but that alone makes it, in my opinion, a characteristic place like Sorano. Just as the place is characteristic and fascinating. The food is not commercial or refined but traditional, local and revisited, something which, as mentioned before, may not please everyone but I think that is not their aim, their aim is to make you discover new flavors or perhaps it would be better to say rediscover . I would also say a word about the wine list but, again as stated, it is not a place even for me who am absolutely not an expert. The person who served us was very kind, who I believe was the owner, who for a small oversight offered a glass of fine wine to a table... but, I tell this to underline that it is not a place for everyone, he probably must have regretted it when he saw it stay in the glasses :'(

Very beautiful location, we had dinner in the room/cave dug into the tuff and it is very suggestive. We tasted starters and main courses and found them both very good.

One of the most beautiful and evocative places I have eaten in... starting from the town, a maze of narrow streets, that ancient flavor of things... and artemisia, the best bitter there is, which produces precisely the owner. the small and particular place, which ends in a cave... you have to go there, you absolutely have to.

Ottimo pranzo alla Ottava Rima nel borgo di Sorano. Abbiamo preso zuppa all’ Acqua Cotta, “Scamerita” selvatica e Tonno del Chianti. Tutti prodotti locali, inclusi i fagioli ed i legumi dell’Azienda Agricola San Benedetto che siamo andati a trovare subito dopo. Ottimo consiglio per il vino. È veramente un piacere andare a mangiare in un posto così speciale.

Hidden among the suggestive alleys of Sorano, the L'Ottava Rima winery is a real pearl for lovers of food and wine. The evocative and welcoming atmosphere, created by the location carved into the tuff and embellished with handmade ceramics, envelops you from the first moment. After a walk through the alleys of Sorano, the coolness of the cellar is a real cure-all. The pleasantly cool temperature creates the ideal environment to enjoy the dishes and wines in complete tranquility.
We arrived almost at closing time, but we were greeted with a smile and were served with the same care and attention that they would have reserved for customers who arrived at the beginning of the service. A gesture that we greatly appreciated and which demonstrates the passion and dedication of those who manage this place.
The staff is attentive and friendly, ready to recommend the best food-wine pairings.
The menu offers a selection of typical traditional Tuscan dishes, prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The platters of Cinta Senese cold cuts and cheeses were truly unparalleled.
The cellar, as the name suggests, is the real protagonist. The selection of wines is vast and well curated, with local and national labels. We particularly appreciated the recommended wine served with decanter.
The value for money is good. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends, as the place is small and very popular.
In summary, La Cantina L'Ottava Rima is a hidden jewel in the heart of Sorano, where the passion for food and wine combines with hospitality. A place not to be missed.
