We stumbled upon this restaurant in winter 2018 and were touched by the thoughtful kindness and delicious food. Fast forward a few years and it’s even better than we remember. A small handwritten menu offers Tuscan favorites that a perfect for the season. Everything is made fresh. Service is leisurely and thoughtful. This is a lovely place to eat and drink locally and enjoy the best of Tuscany.

A homey trattoria in the heart of Tuscany: authentic flavors and homemade dishes (pici, pecorino cheese pie, sliced beef, peposo with potatoes, etc.). Exceptional desserts and excellent wines complete the experience. Fair prices, a family atmosphere. Highly recommended—book in advance!

For me, the Sant'Angelo restaurant is a definite insider tip. The food is excellent, the service is very friendly and extremely attentive. The flavors are superb, and the wine selection is excellent and local. I recommend everyone to try Pici alla Gricia. This hand-rolled, thick pasta (pici), tossed in rendered guanciale (air-dried pork cheek), with Pecorino Romano and black pepper, tastes simply outstanding here.
Fun fact: It's the "grandmother" of carbonara—simple, spicy, and very aromatic.
The Antico Peposo dish tastes just as excellent here. It's a historic braised dish from Tuscany: beef slowly braised in red wine and plenty of black pepper (originally cooked by the pottery bakers, "fornacini").
My absolute recommendation: Come by and indulge your palate at affordable prices.
