Caffe Sant'Angelo In Montalcino

We stumbled upon this restaurant in winter 2018 and were touched by the thoughtful kindness and delicious food. Fast forward a few years and it’s even better than we remember. A small handwritten menu offers Tuscan favorites that a perfect for the season. Everything is made fresh. Service is leisurely and thoughtful. This is a lovely place to eat and drink locally and enjoy the best of Tuscany.

The owner is welcoming and friendly, and the place is simple with a quality, typically Tuscan menu that's delicious. Simplicity always wins, both in the dishes and the people.

There are still capable and honest restaurateurs out there, and this place is always a wonderful confirmation!

A place from another era. Only two people, the wife in the kitchen and the husband serving. I've rarely eaten so well in recent years.

A homey trattoria in the heart of Tuscany: authentic flavors and homemade dishes (pici, pecorino cheese pie, sliced ​​beef, peposo with potatoes, etc.). Exceptional desserts and excellent wines complete the experience. Fair prices, a family atmosphere. Highly recommended—book in advance!

For me, the Sant'Angelo restaurant is a definite insider tip. The food is excellent, the service is very friendly and extremely attentive. The flavors are superb, and the wine selection is excellent and local. I recommend everyone to try Pici alla Gricia. This hand-rolled, thick pasta (pici), tossed in rendered guanciale (air-dried pork cheek), with Pecorino Romano and black pepper, tastes simply outstanding here. Fun fact: It's the "grandmother" of carbonara—simple, spicy, and very aromatic. The Antico Peposo dish tastes just as excellent here. It's a historic braised dish from Tuscany: beef slowly braised in red wine and plenty of black pepper (originally cooked by the pottery bakers, "fornacini"). My absolute recommendation: Come by and indulge your palate at affordable prices.

Home cooking with a bit slow service, but we had plenty of time, so all in all we had a nice evening.

Lovely, small and cosy restaurant with good traditional Tuscan cuisine. Nice and friendly staff, reservation should be made in advance. Highly recommended!

Sono stata in questa Osteria a Giugno, non per caso, ma perché mi era stato consigliato! Mi hanno fatto accomodare nella parte estera del ristornante, luogo intimo e accogliente. Sono partita mangiando una tartare, come secondo una tagliata e in fine una bella torta fatta in casa… Beh che dire, il cibo era ottimo e la ragazza che mi ha servito e’ stata super gentile e premurosa. Ci tornerò sicuramente !!! Consigliatissimo

Wow - la comida era excelente y los precios eran muy justos. Una de las cenas más memorables de todo nuestro viaje a Italia. El Tortino di Pecorino fue uno de los mejores platos que hemos probado. Ambas comidas de pasta eran excelentes y el postre de tarta de queso sobresaliente. La casa era también muy bueno. Este lugar es muy recomendable.
