A historic establishment, as evidenced by the photos of famous people on the walls. We enjoyed some typical Turin dishes, finishing with the famous bicerin. Between each course, the owner added historical notes and legends. Prices are a bit high.

Today I had lunch at this delightful café and was thrilled. Excellent, authentic, and flavorful Piedmontese cuisine, delicious fruity Barbera, and a wonderful host who shared a piece of Turin's and the Savoy family's history with us. A truly wonderful experience, enriching both taste buds and mind. Thank you so much!!!

13/03/2026: The bar overlooking the square is lovely, with an outdoor seating area. I had lunch with colleagues and we had a great time. The starters and main courses were good, but they also have salads, etc. The service was quick, friendly, and helpful. Recommended!
27/02/2026: The price of an Aperol is 2-3 times higher than in regular bars, though half as much as in the bar across the street in the same square... On the other hand, you're not buying a cocktail here, but the opportunity to drink a cocktail in a beautiful, sun-drenched square and people-watch... And that's worth the price.

06/05/2025: Esperienza sempre positiva all’Orto del Frate. Ci torniamo spesso ogni volta che saliamo, sia in coppia, in famiglia o con amici. È uno di quei posti dove sai cosa aspettarti: cucina semplice, porzioni giuste, ambiente rilassato. Il locale non è particolarmente caratteristico, ma è comodo e piacevole, perfetto per una pausa dopo una giornata sulla neve o per una cena informale. Niente di memorabile, ma mai una delusione. Un punto fermo affidabile a Sauze.
