I returned to Clai after a long time and I must guarantee that nothing has changed in the friendliness of the place and the care taken in the food offered. Months ago I passed without being able to enter, there were so many people cramming it in. Unfortunately the place is small and cramped but you absolutely have to go there to taste the vast assortment of delights they prepare. I cannot fail to praise the managers and staff of the small buffet both for their courtesy and the speed of service, which makes this little jewel of Trieste even more attractive.

Among the best lunch breaks in central Trieste! Always pampered, fantastic dishes and always different but excellent proposals! Also recommended for a simple aperitif (standing) with friends in the afternoon!

Posto fantastico. Mangiato due panini e polpette da portare via . Personale gentilissimo, prodotti ottimi di qualità eccelsa. Assolutamente da provare.

Una tappa obbligata. Buffet triestino classico ma a base di pesce (se volete però vi fanno anche il classico panino col prosciutto cotto, senape e cren). Antipasto misto e fritti vari di pesce e vegetali consigliati. Ma ci sono anche fruttini di vari tipi di carne. Frequentatissimo anche da parte di lavoratori in pausa pranzo come da tradizione. Pochi tavoli per pranzare seduti con bei piatti di pasta al pesce ma dovete prenotare in anticipo. Personale e Patron gentilissimi. Prezzo più che onesto e contenutissimo. Bravi, bravi, bravi.

22/03/2025: Very small restaurant, with few seats and dinners organized in two shifts, the first from 7pm, the second from 9pm. Large menu. I had goulash gnocchi and a salad enriched with speck and fondue. Of the two, I liked the salad much more, but I wasn't familiar with the flavor of the goulash, which seemed to me to be a bland version of the stew. To drink half a liter of house red, not bad. Cost for gnocchi, salad, wine and water €33.
