What. A. GEM. We stayed at Castello Volpaia in early October and discovered Bar-Ucci the evening we arrived. We ate there every day of our stay. The menu features many Tuscan comfort food options and elevated standards, great cocktails, decadent deserts and of course, an exceptional wine list, featuring many of the Volpaia wines. We tried lots of different things, all were excellent - delicious and fresh. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. We were helped by the same awesome server each day, Lucreccia (unsure of the spelling) - She remembered us, always greeted us warmly, and always had excellent recommendations. We felt like part of the family. The night we arrived we were exhausted from our trip, and Bar-Ucci was the only restaurant open at the time. It's located inside an old stone building just steps away from the Check-in area for the Volpaia “hotel”. It has a large patio among some trees and a warm, inviting and quaint farm-house-esque interior. The indoor tables were completely full on that chilly night, and though they tried to squeeze us inside, we said we would brave it outside. They sat us in a nice quiet corner, protected from the breeze under a tree, and brought us clean fluffy blankets to keep us warm! Our server was very down-to-earth and friendly, and the owner was bursting with personality. Even the resident dog, Carlotta, was friendly :) If you're lucky enough to stay at Volpaia, or even if you're only visiting for the day, give this place a try. You won't regret it!

Good and plentiful food, a very informal and friendly atmosphere. We ordered 1 Crostone Nero for four people, 2 bruachettas with cured meats and cheeses for four, and a first course each. €40 per person. And a bottle of wine.

An incredible experience. The welcome was incredibly warm, and the food was very, very good. All in a pretty little square.

Mrs. Paola is a wonderful cook and a wonderful hostess. The dishes are delicious, plentiful, and excellent value. The service is fast, and the place is truly charming, right in the historic center of Volpaia.
