Il Calice is a solid bistro in the Quadrilatero, but what made our visit memorable was the service. Amir was attentive without hovering, gave us honest recommendations, and helped us sort out a seating issue without making it awkward. The kind of waiter that makes you want to come back to a place.

we had a dinner here for my bachelorette. we had really good pasta bolognese and lasagna, cocktails are also good here❤️ Amir, Mirco and Nicoleta are all 3 really nice. we will come again

We ended up coming back here multiple times for one reason: Amir. He completely elevated the experience. Every visit he set us up with exactly the right wine, the right food, and somehow always the perfect spot to sit. It never felt random—he just gets it. The place itself is already great, but Amir makes it worth going out of your way for. This became a staple stop for us during our time in Italy, and honestly one of the highlights. If you go, ask for Amir.

09/05/2026: I needed to eat the real deal in Bologna away from the tourist center and this place serves! Food is incredible in a lovely historic institution with the kindest manager/owner - she speaks English! The bread is so soft it’s a pillow, the ragu is from heaven. Excellent wine selection. Only locals here from what I saw.
01/05/2026: When appearances can be deceiving: overcome your doubts and come in. Beyond the old-fashioned style lies substance, flavor, and tradition (a truly well-made ragù!), a seasonal menu, and a wine list that's anything but ordinary (you'd be hard-pressed to find Piffer's Vulcanite in Bologna on the list...).

Trattoria San Sisto

10/05/2026: Fast service and good quality. Their skewered chicken breast...and I repeat...chicken...is inexplicably exceptional. So much so that it's remembered for days. Well done, well done, well done. A guarantee. A place to always return to with great peace of mind. V
09/05/2026: Excellent trattoria. They specialize in grilled meats and they deliver on their promise. We had an excellent grill, some interesting cuts I wasn't familiar with (like bavette), very reasonable prices, and excellent table service. Highly recommended.
