Antico Guelfo In Vicenza

We had a wonderful meal, the cod Vicenza-style was top-notch, everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff were very friendly, and the service was fast and punctual. Definitely worth a try.

The staff is very kind, respectful, and polite. The service is a bit slow. One flaw: it only has a squat toilet, which isn't very practical for female guests.

Excellent welcome, excellent service, special cod

Antico Guelfo was quite disappointing. Although the restaurant was not at all full, we waited a very long time – both to be served, to be able to order, and then to get our food. The overall waiting experience was really too long and unnecessary. The food was good, but nothing special or worth the wait. The biggest disappointment was the toilet – instead of a classic toilet bowl, there is a squat toilet, and the area around it was dirty and full of urine, which left an extremely unpleasant impression. For all of the above, I would not return. If you really have no other option to eat, it is okay, but I would not recommend it.

Dinner at Antico Guelfo was excellent! The dishes we tasted were truly well-crafted: the crostini with cod was beautifully balanced and flavorful, the linguine with creamed ramp tops, scampi, and crusco peppers were truly memorable and perfectly balanced. The service was excellent: attentive, professional, and yet discreet, making you feel at ease without being intrusive. The recommended wine pairing was also excellent, well-suited to the dishes and well-explained. A restaurant that combines quality cuisine, attention to detail, and a warm welcome. Highly recommended.

A restaurant in the historic center with a carefully curated and well-crafted menu. Attentive and friendly service. For the price, the cod served as a main course was too cheap. It must have been an oversight of the day. The ambiance is pleasant, although I would lengthen the tablecloths, which are too short for the tables. Given the prices on the menu, you'd expect a restaurant to pay attention to these details.

The restaurant, at least in winter (it was late November 2025), isn't large (I don't know if they can set up tables outside in the warmer months), but the setting is pleasant and the atmosphere is very quiet and relaxed, with subtle background music. The food is excellent (my partner and I had creamed cod crostini, tagliatelle with duck in foil, beef fillet with herb butter and seasonal vegetables, and for dessert, I think, a crumble). The portions were adequate, and the wine was also quality. What was truly extraordinary was the service: we were assisted by two young women, both impeccable, friendly, and extremely attentive. The menu states to ask about allergies or intolerances. This isn't just an empty expression: my partner is forced to follow a very complicated diet, and first the assistant, then the chef's partner, eagerly inquired about the restrictions, demonstrating inventiveness and flexibility in adapting the menu to our needs where possible. And after lunch, even though it was closing time, the chef's partner came to chat amiably with us at the table, without giving the slightest impression of being rushed or annoyed. A true example of culinary skill and hospitality.
