Antica Trattoria Del Tondo In Reggio nell'emilia

We stopped for a quick lunch with my son, just before their 3:00 PM closing time. We wanted to try the infamous (and often maligned in the comments) "gnocco fritto." It's served as an appetizer, with a portion theoretically designed to allow for a second course or something else. Well, the appetizer (we ordered one each) pleasantly filled us up thanks to the absolutely excellent products: delicious cold cuts and a quantity of gnocco fritto (5) perfect for the platter. The one I chose, moreover, was accompanied by a truly exquisite balsamic vinegar. We finished by sharing a dessert between the two of us. The price? Above average, but absolutely justified by the quality. If you're expecting to spend €20 for two, then it's better to go to McDonald's; the food here is serious. If you really want to be picky, the only thing I'd say would be to lower the cover charge by €1, but that's really a minor detail. Congratulations to all the staff, you are fantastic!

I've been going to this place for over a decade, but lately, in my humble opinion, the quality has fallen slightly short of what it used to be... I'm not judging the price because I like spending money when the food makes you feel good. Unfortunately, this time it didn't go as expected. Let's say I'll postpone it until next time. The service and friendliness are second to none, but the value for money is not there. For two, we each had a second course, a taste of parmesan, water (no wine), and a coffee: €62. It's a trattoria, at least it calls itself that, and it's not located in Piazza Duomo, which might justify the price, but on a simple street. Too expensive!

A typical trattoria with truly delicious local dishes! Fresh homemade pasta and a great selection of main courses. From appetizers to desserts, everything was delicious. The staff were attentive and the service was fast. Well done!
