A true hidden gem! This restaurant is somewhat tucked away in Giulino di Mezzegra, a small town closely linked to a significant chapter in Italian history and therefore frequently the subject of historical research. Antica Trattoria resembles an old living room with high ceilings and exudes a warm, authentic atmosphere. The owner's daughter attends to guests with great warmth and explains the dishes in English. As an amuse-bouche, we were served a profiterole with ricotta and fresh herbs, as well as a small pizzetta with wonderfully aromatic tomatoes. The bread basket was also excellent, filled with olive oil focaccia, grissini, and dark and light rolls of the highest artisanal quality, accompanied by lightly salted raw milk butter. The foie gras parfait with caramelized Tropea onion confit, warm brioche, and lamb's lettuce was superb. The gnocchetti with nettles and Taleggio cheese were creamy and perfectly balanced. The charcoal-grilled duck breast was served on a hot stone—tender, juicy, and exceptionally flavorful. It came with lamb's lettuce, blueberries, edible flowers, and apricot confit—a truly outstanding combination. The fish of the day was equally impressive: a local trout, grilled over charcoal and served with potatoes, polenta, and lemon butter. We skipped dessert, as we were already completely satisfied. The portions are generous, and the staff speaks better English than in many comparable restaurants. My two companions were delighted with the food and the warm atmosphere—there can hardly be a better compliment for a restaurant. Overall, a wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Incredible meal, the best I had in Lake Como area. There was no wait for lunch on a Saturday, and parking nearby was pretty easy (there is one paid lot that only takes Euro coins but is very cheap, and another free lot, and both had empty parking spaces). It was a slow paced meal that took almost 2 hours, which we didn't mind at all (multiple courses, all delicious), just something to keep in mind.

After several very disappointing experiences at restaurants in Como, this one literally redeemed our opinion of Italian cuisine! The tomato ice cream salad was an absolute masterpiece – surprising, perfectly balanced, and yet very Italian in its simplicity. The ravioli were fresh, tender, and delicious, and the fish was outstanding. The refreshments served while we waited were also a very nice touch. The wait itself was a bit long, but completely understandable; the place is very popular, and the staff works like ants: quickly and attentively. It's clear that despite the full house, everything is under control. This is a restaurant where you can feel the love of cooking. After leaving, we felt that this is exactly what contemporary Italian cuisine should taste like. We recommend it!

Lovely restaurant off the main road with a nice atmosphere. We really enjoyed the food (which included good options for a vegetarian), wine and service from the team. Grazie mille ❤️

We came (2 pax) on Saturday evening at 2045 with no reservation, the place was full and the waitresses were running around but they wrote us down for 2130. At 2130 we came back and they got us the middle table in the balcony within 5 minutes. The menu is of good variety dedicated to local produce and cuisine with Chef Paolo's fingerprint on it with an impressive winelist alongside fairly priced local wines (Lombardia). We started with two glasses of local sparkling wine accompanying a Breadbasket with salted butter, a complementary herbal Fritatta and Croquette. We had the local fish tastings varation (good), the tomato salad (mind blowing) and Gnocchi (excellent). For the mains we had the fish of the day which was charcoal grilled local trout with potatoes, polenta and lemony butter (excellent) and the charcoal grilled Duck breast that comes sizzling on a scolding rock with a side of fresh salad (excellent) accompanied by two glasses of local Pinot Grigio. We didn't eat dessert because we were completly full. *The portions are on the generoua side *The waitresses are better than average in english All in all, a great experience. Highly recommended (try avoid showing up on Saturday evening when it's busiest, for an even better experience)

An excellent experience at the Antica Trattoria del Risorgimento. We started with the "Delizie del mio lago," which perfectly encapsulates the local flavors, followed by gnocchi with nettles and Taleggio cheese, creamy and superbly balanced, and the duck breast cooked on a hot stone, tender and incredibly tasty. Everything was excellent: quality ingredients and great attention to detail. The atmosphere was quiet and the service impeccable. Highly recommended.
