My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and orecchiette with sausage, while my husband enjoyed the pork chop. The service was exceptional; the owner personally visited our table to inquire about any dietary restrictions and to ask where we were visiting from. Our server was also attentive, and both spoke English. However, the most memorable part of the night was dining within a sassi, a truly unique experience. Overall, excellent hospitality.

The location was incredibly atmospheric, the staff were extremely attentive and wonderfully polite, and the food was excellent — as were the dessert and the aperitivo.

The staff were very welcoming; we had dinner for two, accompanied by our dog. We chose to start with an appetizer of fava beans and chicory, which was truly delicious and served with gluten-free croutons, a portion of ricotta served with honey and citrus jam, and typical Matera bread. After the appetizer, we moved on to the first courses, where we also consoled ourselves with a gluten-free penne pasta with creamed cod and the classic Matera pasta with turnip tops and anchovies. The staff was very helpful and attentive; we had a great time in a pleasant atmosphere with pleasant people. Recommended.
Prices are reasonable.

I tried this restaurant a few years ago during a stop in Matera, and since I liked it so much, I brought it back again this year for the company I was having. Always a guarantee!
The restaurant is inside a cave, so the atmosphere is very evocative. The dishes are typical of Lucania; from appetizers to dessert, everything was delicious and prepared with local ingredients. The owner explained each course and the wine to us with patience and kindness, even though we were quite noisy and picky diners :D
In short, an almost obligatory stop if you're passing through Matera.

Excellent dishes from Matera and Basilicata, friendly and courteous service, and reasonable prices. Delicious broad beans and chicory, and delicious pasta with cruschi peppers! Superb!!

During our stay in Matera, we dined at Annina two evenings, despite the fact that there are so many restaurants and trattorias to choose from! However, if you want to eat delicious traditional dishes in a quiet atmosphere close to the center but away from the chaos, this place offers friendly service and excellent quality products. Excellent value. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, perfect for families with children.
