The food was good. However, the service could be improved. We had the lunch menu, which included salad, main course, coffee, and water. We never received the water, and the coffee only came after we asked for it. In general, we rarely saw the waitstaff.

Located on the promenade in Brixen, the restaurant has a good concept, but it won't be immediately obvious to everyone. The daily risotto looked interesting, but had absolutely no flavor. A shame. Even the pumpkin seed oil couldn't save it. The sweet potato fries were nice, but nothing special. The truffle dip was appropriate and interesting. The friendly waiter urged us to order, as the kitchen was about to close. Fifteen minutes later, new guests were seated at the next table and were able to order without any pressure. That wasn't exactly clever.

The rooms are like little tiny houses in the attic. Very individual layout and furnishings. We've been coming to the Light and Water Festival at the Old Slaughterhouse in Brixen for many years and are always very satisfied. The food, the beer garden, and the breakfast leave nothing to be desired. I especially recommend the quarter-liter beers with your meal.

Nice location with good service

The latte macchiato and chai latte were very good and, considering the location, reasonably priced. We were actually looking for an afternoon café with snacks, preferably with bruschetta. We checked the menu when choosing this place and were pleased to see that it offered them. Unfortunately, we discovered during our visit that the full menu is only available at lunchtime and in the evening; we arrived at 3:30 pm. So, only small snacks were available. While this was a shame, it's completely understandable, and the place was still great, so no stars deducted :)

As a native of Brixen, I always enjoy visiting the Alte Schlachthof (Old Slaughterhouse) when I'm back in my hometown. I previously gave it a 5-star review, as I've always been very impressed with this establishment – ​​see below. The food still meets my expectations, but unfortunately, the service has deteriorated significantly – 2 points deducted. Update: Yesterday around 5 p.m., I was at the bar and specifically asked for a freshly squeezed juice. I was recommended a carrot-apple-ginger juice. However, the juice I was served was noticeably brown with an unpleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste. When I complained, I was told that the juice had been "freshly squeezed at noon" and that there was nothing unusual about the taste. This statement left me, as a customer, with a very unpleasant feeling – especially since my companion also tried the juice and, both visually and in terms of taste, it seemed that the product was no longer in good condition. Update: Furthermore, I could see out of the corner of my eye that the juice jug was sitting unrefrigerated on the counter. For context: Pressed apple juice oxidizes relatively quickly upon contact with air, which explains the browning. However, if juice is prepared several hours in advance and not kept refrigerated throughout, then in my opinion, it doesn't meet the standards of what a customer would expect from "freshly squeezed." In the worst-case scenario, this could even lead to gastrointestinal issues. It's a shame – I would have liked to see more transparency, a focus on quality, and a more sensitive approach to legitimate criticism. Two years ago: A true culinary experience! The beetroot risotto with salmon is an absolute highlight. What truly made the meal unforgettable was Alessandro's attentive service. His friendliness and courteous manner perfectly complemented the lunch. Many thanks to the entire team and especially to Alessandro for this excellent service!

We had a very good meal at the restaurant at absolutely fair prices. There was something for everyone on the menu, both in terms of food and drinks.
