A typical La Spezia tavern. A unique location, especially in the basement, and a very family-friendly atmosphere are what make this place stand out. Cleanliness, friendliness, and traditional local dishes are the hallmarks of this establishment.

When the dishes arrived, we thought they were for two, but they were actually individual dishes. Compliments: delicious and plentiful.

What two? All good, plus excellent mescia and stockfish.

Unfortunately, our experience was rather mixed. The first evening, we arrived without a reservation. A waiter asked us to come back 45 minutes later (around 9:15 pm). When we returned at the scheduled time, another waiter informed us that the restaurant was full… a huge disappointment after waiting so long for dinner. So we made a reservation for the following day. Regarding the food: if you like seafood and fish, you should enjoy the place. The pesto pasta and the mussel-filled ravioli were very good. However, we were extremely disappointed with the portion sizes: I only had 7 ravioli on my plate for €13.50. After all the waiting and the reservation, we were really expecting more. Fortunately, the white wine and the desserts were excellent.

Great atmosphere, good service. The food is good, but doesn't stand out from other restaurants. Still worth a visit.

Definitely worth trying the local dishes

Excellent value for money. I had the tagliatelle with pesto, delicious! Friendly staff, and a short wait for food. The basement restaurant has a traditional, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Historic La Spezia tavern located near the covered market. Reservations required. Minimal menu but good quality, more than fair price compared to other nearby restaurants. I ordered the delicious house white wine. 1 tagliatelle with pesto, 1 penne with scampi, 1 mixed seafood carpaccio, 1 mixed antipasto.

The place is beautiful and charming, the staff is welcoming. It's a shame about the food. The cod was loose, and the fried anchovies weren't good. The pasta with pesto was good.

The restaurant is located in a basement, and unfortunately because of that it is incredibly loud inside. The noise makes any kind of conversation difficult and completely takes away the possibility of enjoying a peaceful meal. It’s the kind of noise that stays in your head long after you leave. On top of that, it was extremely hot and stuffy. We visited in May, so I honestly can’t imagine how unbearable it must be during the summer. The staff were constantly rushing around and paid very little attention to the customers. Food was basically dropped onto the table and they immediately walked away, without checking if everything was okay. The worst part happened when the table next to us became free and the staff started cleaning it while we were still eating. They used a bleach-based cleaner very generously, and in the already stuffy air the smell was awful. They sprayed so much that some of it even landed on our table while we were eating. Unfortunately, there was no real way to even mention it because nobody seemed to pay attention or react. The food was good, but definitely not exceptional enough to make up for the overall experience. Sadly, I would not come back.
