Sunday lunch. We arrived very late because we'd driven a bit, and the restaurant where we wanted to have lunch wouldn't accept us because the kitchen was already closed, even though Google said it was open until 3 PM.
We opted for this one. After a few more phone calls, which went similarly to the first, they told us that if they arrived soon, we could have lunch.
What can I say...it was fate.
A very large restaurant, or rather a trattoria. Private parking. The place has many small dining rooms, furnished with a thousand objects from the past, neat and clean. A waiter greeted us in the garden and asked if we were the ones who had called. I thought he'd curse us. I'm used to it. Instead, once we entered with a beautiful bouquet of fresh, fragrant ranunculus and freesias, we found a warm, lively atmosphere and welcoming, smiling staff. Nothing forced, no stern faces, no rude people. The smell of charcoal wafted from the room next to ours, where a fireplace had perhaps cooked something earlier. The rooms were warm and welcoming. A traditional table setting with cloth napkins, not paper. A kind waitress in Friulian dress welcomed us and gave us the menu with genuine kindness and helpfulness. I was very surprised. It seemed like service like it used to be. Something increasingly rare and valuable, and difficult to put together. She was sincere. A very interesting, varied menu with dishes for everyone. Soon, the well-prepared dishes arrived, good, even excellent. Tested and balanced dishes. Well done. A waiter in uniform (increasingly rare) asked if he could dress my salad (maybe it had been 30 years since I'd had that happen... and I frequent many restaurants of all levels) and I really appreciated it. I saw great professionalism and love for this hard and demanding job. I found a place where I would always return, even if something might go wrong one day, it would easily be surpassed because here everything is just as I'd always hoped. Right up until the end, all the staff who passed by us asked if we were okay with a smile and a unique serenity. Be careful.
I swear it's been years since I've found everything so welcoming and excellent. Fast service. The coffee is also excellent... The restrooms are impeccably clean, fully equipped, and as beautiful as the rest of the place. The touch of a woman's hand is in the air, adding to the beauty and history of this historic establishment. Where the experience of years past lives happily and bucks the trend of all the modernity that robs the restaurant of its beauty. When I return to Udine, I'll gladly return here and highly recommend it. I'll make a reservation and enjoy everything more slowly. Prices are average.

I go there often and the food is always very good, a suggestion: I would add some labels as wine by the glass (not just house wine)

A place with meticulous attention to detail. I had dinner there recently and was truly amazed.
The dishes are exquisite, the food is delicious, and the portions are generous.
The quality-price ratio is one of the best in Udine.

I hadn't been there in a couple of years, and after making a reservation on Saturday for Sunday lunch, I didn't have a pleasant experience with my family. We were right there on time at 1:00 PM, and after a short wait to verify our reservation, the girl showed us to our table. We sat down, and shortly afterward, one of the owners showed up at our table and, in an arrogant and annoyed tone, asked our last names, as if we hadn't made a reservation and shouldn't be at that table? But you showed us to that table! She could have avoided this if she'd first consulted the employee at the entrance!
There were five of us, and we each had an appetizer and a first or second course.
The chicken arrived at 2:45 PM.
The place was packed...perhaps too crowded, and the customer and staff management wasn't the best and didn't live up to the expectations of the place.
Kudos to the girl in the traditional Friulian dress. She was incredibly kind to our table, apologizing several times for the long wait.

Excellent menu. All starters and main courses are very good and varied. The chicken alla diavola is excellent. It's a shame about the long wait, but it's definitely worth it. The dessert menu could be improved, but it's excellent. The space is a bit small, but it's decorated with various collectibles.

The beef tartare and the Gorizia rose appetizer were excellent, and the chicken took a while to arrive, but it was perfectly cooked over the grill and the portion was very generous! Unfortunately, it's a shame about the house wines!
