Cozy mountain restaurant/inn, it feels like entering a friend's house. This is no place for jocks or fashionistas. Here time has stopped.
The owner is very kind and nice. There are cats, a wood stove, the place has a long history behind it as evidenced by the numerous photographs from the 40s/50s/60s hanging on the walls. The room has everything you need and is clean. The breakfast was plentiful, as was the dinner. Fair price. Suitable for neither difficult nor pretentious people accustomed to the "luxury" of cities

Two premises: we only ate for lunch without staying overnight, the evaluation is on the overall experience and not just on food and service.
Having said that, to appreciate the experience at Gigino's you need to get into the atmosphere of this very homely environment. It's a bit like entering a private home where Giovanni (known as Gigino, even if that is his father's name) welcomes you by offering you what he has prepared today.
If you expect to be in a starred restaurant, or even just a classic trattoria, you may be disappointed. The key to appreciating this place is to be welcomed into the style and environment of a house in the Casentino mountains.
At this point you will be able to appreciate the care for the plants that Giovanni takes care of, the art of researching meticulous nativity scenes, an authenticity made of simple things.
Thanks John.

Super positive experience, not only for the overnight stay, but above all for having met this extraordinary person who is Giovanni known as Gigino.
Two friends and I spent two days in the enchanting Casentino forests in the Campigna area. We therefore stayed here one night in a triple room with breakfast included, also taking advantage of dinner.
Very nice room with three single beds as we had requested, with a small balcony and a splendid view of the mountains around Corniolo. TV, hairdryer, shower gel and plenty of towels. All in a simple, very clean and well-kept environment.
Both breakfast and dinner were plentiful, and we were sorry not to be able to finish all the goodies that Gigino brought us. At dinner it was mainly local cuisine, all delicious!! In particular the ricotta, the legume soup, the very soft focaccia and the freshly picked grapes!!
Breakfast was also a triumph, with homemade cakes and jams, yogurt, biscuits, fruit juices and even pandoro slices! Even though it is not yet Christmas, it was greatly appreciated, perhaps precisely because, as Gigino told us, since it is not yet in season they are the first products and therefore the freshest.
But the best event that happened to us this weekend was actually meeting Gigino. With his kindness, delicacy and availability he remained in the hearts of all three. Truly a wonderful person, who immediately strikes you with his friendliness, humility and the passion he puts into everything he does.
They are those encounters that make us reflect on what we really need to be happy. I think that rather than valuing material goods, we should consider much more the human warmth that we can receive from being hosted. And Gigino, with his attentive welcome, knows how to do this very well.
Thank you Giovanni, we really hope to have the immense pleasure and honor of being your guests again! 😀
