I usually read reviews of places, just to get an idea. This was an anomalous case, without half measures, either the minimum or the maximum, a strange situation, I think.
Then I met Giovanni, Gigino's son, who welcomed us into his modest inn as if we were family, advised us on the best route to take, proudly told us about the peculiarities of the area, what happened in his historic place, with great detail, without neglecting the thorniest details, of a difficult area often abandoned by the institutions, capturing the attention and curiosity of all of us.
He showed us his wonderful botanical creations, his bonsai, each more beautiful than the last, not for sale, never, but given as gifts to whoever can earn Giovanni's friendship and commit to caring for them for life.
Always kind, and with a smile on his face, a genuine, sincere person is either loved or hated. I am part of the former.

We had lunch at the inn, the service was excellent: welcoming and friendly, and the traditional food was very good. The owner was very kind and welcoming. We'll be back!

Looking at the reviews, I wondered why they were so divided between the lowest and highest ratings. Today we had lunch at Gigino's, and I realized that the ratings spoke more highly of the voter than the recipient. After meeting Giovanni, being welcomed like family, and tasting his cuisine, we realized we were part of the world that appreciates him and his restaurant, and we've awarded it the stars we think it deserves.
