Amazing food! Lovely family run restaurant for 40 years, must go! 👍🏽🥰

Last night we had dinner at "Vecio Portal" and had a great meal! Mr. Pino, owner of the restaurant, recommended a very soft octopus, with a cream of smoked potatoes, butter, thyme and fennel; delicious fish-based first courses; a crunchy fried calamari, accompanied by slices of polenta, an exquisite chocolate cake and a very personal tiramisu... all accompanied by a good Soave white wine and a good Recioto della Valpolicella, suggested by his son Lorenzo.

Ho riservato online ( con indicazione obbligatoria della carta di credito a garanzia della prenotazione ) questa trattoria per una cena a Venezia perché attratta dalla serietà delle recensioni . Siamo state accolte in una sala interna su un tavolo per due persone dove gli spazi tra tavolo del vicino e frigo delle bibite o armadio dei bicchieri era molto molto esiguo . L’arredamento della stanza lasciava abbastanza a desiderare ( tende rotte ecc ) Il menù cartaceo non era previsto ma sul tavolo c’erano presenti più indicazioni al QRCODE. Peccato che non risultasse scansionabile da alcun cellulare in quanto la sala era completamente sprovvista di copertura segnale o Wi-Fi . Comunque ci viene fornito un tablet per consultare il menu . Menù curato e interessante . I piatti che abbiamo assaggiato erano tutti presentati molto bene e di buona qualità . Il Vino che ci è stato servito a calice come da richiesta, non ci è stato descritto né presentato, e visto il prezzo avrei gradito sapere cosa stavo bevendo. Insomma trattoria dove si mangia sicuramente bene, dove sono sicuramente attenti all’immagine social ma tutta questa attenzione deve andare di pari passo con accoglienza e attenzione al cliente . Si può migliorare .

Average, expensive like everything in Venice. Good food, the bread and pasta are homemade (good). Menu not too Venetian, a little flat, no innovation. The dishes we took lacked that something, something that would make them remembered and enjoyed to the fullest. Ultra-expensive wines compared to retail prices (a prosecco with wine, €30 versus €6 on the website), but Venice is expensive. It's like those movies that aren't bad, but you don't go back to see them again.

This restaurant is a well hidden gem! Make sure to make reservations before going there. This is a quality restaurant where local people go. The service is extraordinary friendly. They have a high quality wine choice and the food is fantastic. We went 4 times and each time was great. The atmosphere is lively in a very good sense. You MUST try their tuna-dish, the marinated pork, and their fish of the day. These are just a few examples of their well filled menu-card. The service is efficient, we never had to wait long for our food and even with a fully booked restaurant the service remained very friendly and the waiter took really time to explain us the wine-choices. He knows his wines! This is not a place for a quick hurry-up meal, but a place to show respect for great food and drinks and to have a lovely evening with friends and family. We met there very interesting people with whom we had inspiring discussions about travelling, modern art, living in Venice etc. They have very original and interesting decorations at the walls of the restaurant: card plays, cork screws etc. from many countries across the world!

Excellent restaurant, friendly and smiling service. Apparently, mainly frequented by locals… Which doesn’t spoil anything. And above all a very good choice of natural wines.

What can I say, finally a quality Italian restaurant...I had a fish-based dinner on Sunday and meat on Monday...very good rating...courteous and friendly service...quality/price...correct...it is NOT a place for those who want to save money (eat to fill their stomachs...)...but for 20/30 euros more I go to dine in good quality places....compliments to the restaurateur...Carlo.

Came highly recommended by a local friend and did not disappoint. My wife had the gnocchi and I had the veal. Both were delicious. The staff was great, and ambience was nice. Worth the walk from our hotel to this off the beaten path restaurant.

Wer Pizza, Pasta und ähnliches haben möchte, sollte besser in einen Strassenladen in Venedig. Wer aber einheimische Küche geniessen will (nein, einheimisch ist nicht Burger), ist hier am richtigen Platz, zumal man im Sommer bequem und in stiller Atmosphäre fernab der Touristenströme im Garten sitzen kann. Es ist zu empfehlen, zu den typischen venezianischen Gerichten auch die einheimischen (Bio-)Weine zu probieren; der Chef des Hauses hat stets den passenden Tropfen zur Hand.
