A restaurant with a capital R. A splendid and tasty lunch with a wine pairing worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. Lorenzo discreetly guides you through your choices, but the result is astonishing. Delicious food, made with superb ingredients. Attentive service and excellent explanations of the dishes. Friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant may be a bit older, but the ambiance and atmosphere are still those of a true Italian restaurant. The wine cellar at the entrance is beautiful, stocked with superb wines and a few niche labels. I was very happy to eat there, at a price that was, all things considered, in line with what I ate and drank.

Driven by the desire to eat out, I decided to try this restaurant recommended by some friends. The welcome was excellent, and they asked us if we preferred to eat inside the private courtyard or overlooking the city's typical alleys. After we sat down in the internal garden, the head waiter listed the off-menu items, and given our hesitation, we trusted the local know-how. The dinner proved excellent, featuring fish and reinterpretations of classic Venetian dishes. I must say it was a succession of flavors I hadn't tasted in Venice in a long time. Al Vecio Portal is a small restaurant that has retained its identity. The welcome is familiar, with just the right amount of friendliness from the owners, never intrusive and very polite. The menu offers traditional Venetian cuisine with a few national dishes. A menu that expresses the owners' love for simple, authentic cuisine. Here at Al Vecio Portal, everything is delicious; trust the chef and you will be completely satisfied. The wine list features many fine labels. The homemade desserts are fabulous. The prices are very fair for a place in the center of Venice.
