Al Ro Manzo In Barga

I expected more, good quality of meat but little choice on the menu, I had seen many good things from the photos (cheeses, Angus, wide choice of wines, I expected there to be Syrah from the Mordini estate) which were not present on the menu. There were no oil or salt on the table, I would have put a little more on the meat. The service was cold, the chosen wine was opened without letting us taste it.

Purely meat restaurant in the center of Barga, a small village in Garfagnana. Excellent tartare with an intense flavour, decent hamburger, perhaps the lard covered the taste of the hamburger meat a little too much. Try again with other types of meat

Excellent food, I had a platter of mixed cured meats and a lard burger with chips. Everything excellent. Very kind staff, even though the place was full they welcomed us without a reservation.

I’m not one to leave bad reviews. If you don’t have anything nice to say… so I only leave a review when it’s great. And this place was great! We had dinner on a quieter evening and ordered the tartar trio. It was great. Next up was the bistecca with a side of faggiole and mixed grilled vegetables. When we ordered I thought I heard him say in Italian something about a kilo. Too much? My wife said well it’s bone in. It was a lot of meat. But we ate it all. Ordered the steak medium so that it wouldn’t come rare and it came medium rare which was perfect. The chef just couldn’t go past medium rare. Lol. The steak was amazing! And those faggiole were also a stand out in garlic and olive oil. So the question is always would I eat here again. Absolutely! Hats off to the chef and server.
