We arrived in San Daniele by chance and stumbled upon this restaurant as soon as we parked our cars. The atmosphere is lovely, clean, and welcoming, with a central fireplace lit, creating a lovely atmosphere. The staff is friendly. We really wanted to try the much-vaunted local prosciutto, and it was much appreciated—exceptional! Afterward, some friends ordered the cheese frico with polenta.
Not everyone liked it because they thought it was too toasted, which is probably due to the recipe.
A few others and I ordered the tagliolini with radicchio, and here, we were completely satisfied!
A good red wine accompanied everything! The price was fair and honest.

An authentic experience in San Daniele: local flavors and a welcoming atmosphere
We visited San Daniele del Friuli at midday, a moment made even more evocative by the sound of the town siren that marks the time (a special surprise if you're not expecting it!). After visiting the beautiful nativity scene inside the Cathedral, we decided to immediately look for a place for lunch, knowing how quickly places fill up for the tasting of the famous prosciutto.
We were lucky to find a table right away at "Al Bersagliere." The restaurant is intimate and not very large (in fact, shortly after we arrived, a decent line formed outside), which makes the atmosphere very convivial and authentic.
Our gastronomic choice:
The cuisine truly impressed us with its quality and respect for tradition:
First courses: We started with an excellent Frico with polenta and tagliolini in cream with diced ham, a delicate and flavorful combination.
The highlight: 200 grams of local San Daniele ham, served with kale and sautéed potatoes, was a must.
A true delight: the quality of the prosciutto is unquestionable, and the sides were cooked to perfection.
Tip: If you plan to go, try to arrive on time (perhaps right at the siren!) because tables fill up quickly, but the wait is definitely worth it for the kindness of the staff and the deliciousness of the dishes.

Everything was delicious! We chose traditional dishes (in addition to prosciutto, frico, trout, and "strucchi" sweets).
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Very conveniently located in the city center.

We had lunch at Bar Al Bersagliere and the experience was outstanding - the prosciutto, the Ribolla Gialla, the local dishes, just delicious! We‘ll definitely dine here again next time we’re in the area!

We were four couples today and had a great experience. The service was friendly, the food was very good, and to finish, a sublime mascarpone, excellent wines.
I recommend it to everyone in the heart of San Daniele.
And a nice surprise, the reasonable price, too.
The food was really good.
And for those in a hurry, there's even a very nice fireplace on.
