30/10/2025: EXPEDITION TO NIMIS
End of the day. My brain is in "no more Excel" mode.
The fateful question arises: "Where are we going for dinner?"
My local colleagues, with an air of initiation, say to me: "We'll take you to a special place... the food is amazing."
And so, towards Nimis, heading towards "Alle Valanghe", a name that already promises strong emotions.
FIRST OBSTACLE: PARKING
There's little parking and the place is very popular, so the hunt for a spot can be like a small village rally.
Luckily, it was Monday, and the parking gods smiled on us.
INSIDE, THE SMELL OF HOME AND GRILLS
The place is large and welcoming, with that sincere rustic feel that evokes a Sunday with the family.
Wooden tables and chairs, grandma-style shelves, soft lighting, and in the center of the room, a fireplace that, if lit, would have completed the scene with a fairytale feel.
(Mental note: return in winter, perhaps with snow outside and a glass of bubbly in hand.)
THE QUEEN OF THE TABLE: THE FLORENTINE STEAK
The menu is clear: here, meat is the absolute star.
The four of us chose a 1.6 kg Florentine steak of pure protein poetry.
Accompanying it were the inevitable roast potatoes, various vegetables, and a wine that didn't want to stay in the glass.
Every bite confirmed the rumors: excellent ingredients, perfectly cooked, bold yet balanced flavor.
TIME FOR CALM
The service? Friendly, authentic, without too many frills, just as a good trattoria should be.
The only complaint: speed isn't their strong point.
Perhaps a tribute to the slow food philosophy... or perhaps the meat takes its time to become legendary.
In any case, the wait is forgiven with the first bite.
THE BILL
The desserts were also good—not a must, but a happy choice to round things off.
Then comes the bill, a bit salty, but the quality of the food makes up for it.
Let's just say it's not an "everyday" trattoria, but one for a special evening.
CONCLUSION
"Alle Valanghe" isn't just any place; it's a carnivorous refuge with a Friulian soul, where time slows down and meat reigns supreme.
Between a glass of wine and a slice of Florentine steak, you understand why my colleagues were so keen to bring me here.
A positive experience, a happy stomach, a slightly less so wallet, but it was worth it.
