Today we set out from the refuge for a beautiful hike, and on the way back we stopped for lunch. The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was very clean and well-kept. Next time we'd like to stay overnight. Keep up the good work!

The most wonderfull acomodation in a special place. Everything was great, nice playground for the kids, the owner was super nice and the food was delicious, specially the veal tartar. I can fully recommend.

It was a pleasant surprise! Fornas is a place that appeals to everyone: from the avid hiker to the family looking to enjoy a delicious Sunday lunch without too much effort. I personally reached the refuge by bike, starting from Fusea... a not overly challenging route, but ultimately rewarded by the hospitality and kindness of the owners. Typical Friulian dishes!

A refuge 2.5 kilometers from Fusea. A beautiful spot surrounded by greenery, with goats, donkeys, and dogs. A lovely playground for children and a market selling artisanal and hobby products. A well-kept restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. The food is plentiful and delicious. Prices are average.

A small but welcoming refuge near Tolmezzo. Very welcoming and helpful staff, and a green outdoor area with a children's playground. A short, shaded trail leads from the refuge to Sella Duron.

One of the best parts of any motorcycle trip is stumbling across places you never would have found otherwise. Out of our entire 8-day ride across Italy, Rifugio Fornas served what was easily the most authentic meal of the trip. Not the fanciest, not the most expensive, just the most real. I ordered the gnocchi along with the beans and onions, and honestly it was one of those meals that reminds you why Italian food has the reputation it does. Simple ingredients, cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and tasting like it came straight from a family kitchen rather than a restaurant. The whole place has that feeling that seems to be disappearing in many parts of the world, genuine hospitality, amazing home-cooked food, good company, and no need to impress anyone. Just honest people serving incredible food in the mountains. To top it all off, there was Mia, the resident dog, who seemed convinced she was part of our riding group for the evening. She happily wandered from table to table making friends and added even more character to an already unforgettable stop. After days of riding through some of the most beautiful roads in Italy, this was the dinner that everyone kept talking about afterward. If you ever find yourself anywhere near Rifugio Fornas, do yourself a favor and stop for a meal. Some places you visit, others you remember. 🇮🇹🏍️🍝🐕

Beautiful refuge, excellent as a starting point for various excursions... the food is excellent... well managed!!

I stayed for several days and found the staff to be friendly, clean, and attentive to detail, all of which go hand in hand with good food (especially excellent desserts). The result is simply excellent. Well done, guys!
