15/04/2026: We went to the "temple of pizza," as they call it. The atmosphere was different from what I remembered; everything had been renovated. We went from an old-fashioned pub to a soulless modern space. Somehow, it felt like we were walking into a sandwich shop. As soon as we sat down, we were told that to order, all we had to do was press a button on the table to summon the waiter: we should have already realized what a place it had become. We ordered. Looking around while waiting, I realized that the place, with its plexiglass windows and sliding doors, reminded me of something. The ROBOT, who brought me the appetizers from the kitchen, made me understand what it was like. Yes, it felt like an all-you-can-eat place. The Ascolana olives weren't great; they still tasted of brine. The fried zucchini were perfectly ordinary. Then came the arrosticini, again brought by the legendary robot, and the pizza with puntarelle, brought by a waiter. The arrosticini weren't bad, but there are better ones in the area. The puntarelle were unseasoned, the anchovies were supermarket-quality, and the mozzarella was missing. As a Roman, I expected more from the puntarelle. The rest of the menu is almost touristy, with burgers called "Aztec" or "hot dog" sandwiches. It's a shame because what was once a historic local spot has become a tourist attraction. That said, the place is clean and the food is okay. It's definitely the first Italian restaurant/pizzeria where I felt like I was in a parallel universe, like an all-you-can-eat experience.
