31/12/2025: Perhaps the only restaurant in the historic "upper" village. The dishes are simple and with a nod to the local area, yet tasteful. Some dishes have been reinterpreted by the chef. Good value for money.

01/02/2026: A simple but generous table (the house offers you spumante, an amuse-bouche and a petit four), excellent grilled tuna and desserts, but a slight disappointment with the pasta alla vongole. Easy parking.

03/01/2026: The place is nice, located in the center of Dolceacqua, a few steps from the parking lots. The pizzas are decent. The pizza pazza was undercooked, while the Ligurian pizza was good. The desserts were average. The prices are fair.

24/01/2026: The quintessence of disappointment. It felt like we were bothering the waiters and waitresses. No goodbye at all, very long waiting times for the service, yet extremely quick when it came to bringing the card machine to pay. My girlfriend ordered the “risotto with red shrimp tartare”… there was indeed a risotto (although you could absolutely not taste any broth, only plain rice) and a few small pieces of shrimp scattered on top. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE WORD “TARTARE” WHEN YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY MAKING ONE. My dish seemed to have been prepared with an overly salty, industrial pesto. In short: disappointing. And honestly, unless you have the palate of a Doberman, this is a tourist trap to be avoided. A disgrace to Italy.

03/01/2026: We had a wonderful dinner at Quintessenza in San Remo, seated outside in their wind‑protected and heated area. The plastic enclosure kept us perfectly comfortable, and the table itself was excellent — cozy, calm, and ideal for enjoying the evening. We started with the paccheri al sugo di crostacei, a chef’s suggestion that turned out to be absolutely delicious, along with a beautifully prepared insalata di carciofi served raw and full of flavor. For the main courses, I chose the classic Orecchia d’Elefante and a rombo con carciofi al forno, both impeccably cooked and generously portioned. Dessert was equally impressive: a creamy cheesecake with caramello salato and a delightful meringata con marron glacé. Every dish was well prepared, balanced, and satisfying. The service added an extra touch of charm. Before the starters, the waiter brought us some bread and warm pizza slices, and we were offered a limoncello to finish the meal. The highlight, though, was the thoughtful gesture toward our dog Toffee, who received a few slices of ham as a treat — a small detail that made the experience feel truly personal. From start to finish, everything was smooth, attentive, and delicious. Quintessenza delivered a flawless experience that fully deserves 5 stars.

07/01/2026: Excellent, especially the arrosticini, which are absolutely delicious. Nice place, good service, and a good price. I recommend them.

05/01/2026: I went with four friends and the food was truly delicious! Their highlight is the mutton rostelle, which are exceptional! The cuts of meat are also very flavorful; I had the picanha rare and really enjoyed it! My friends had the pizza and the trofie with pesto, and everyone was satisfied. For appetizers, we shared two bruschettas, one with garlic and one without. Highly recommended!

04/01/2026: We made a reservation for four people by phone, no wait, and were seated in the dining room next to a side exit door. The staff opened it countless times, causing some disruption, but fortunately, the quality of the service made up for it. The dishes were generously portioned and generally good. The paella was plentiful. Prices were in line with other restaurants in the area. The prices, after all, are unquestionable; they're obvious. We might return, though I always like variety.

06/01/2026: I'm only giving one star to the service, especially the welcome, given that the restaurant was "almost empty" at 7:30 PM and they said they were fully booked. Okay, maybe they were fully booked, but was it an effort to find a table for two for a quick dinner? I can assure you, they've done it in other places.

03/01/2026: A very negative experience. I was greeted unpleasantly by the owner, who spoke rudely to me upon arrival, saying "he wants this," just inches away from me as I was simply looking for someone to talk to about finding our table. I was then loudly scolded, in front of everyone, with the people at the tables watching us, for an alleged delay, despite having notified us 45 minutes in advance and having herself told us there were no problems. The place was clearly overcrowded, with too many tables and the adjacent ones too close together. We ordered quickly to free up our table, but still waited over half an hour for two pizzas. I spent almost €50 for two pizzas and two drinks, for truly terrible treatment. The pizzas weren't bad, but I would never return.

31/12/2025: We had dinner on December 28, 2025. The place was below street level, with tons of tables all packed together, and the ceiling was low. It was incredibly hot and stuffy, and the place was incredibly chaotic. I couldn't wait to leave. The bathrooms were filthy.

11/02/2026: A wonderful place, with a friendly owner and waiters. All dishes are prepared to a high standard. An excellent wine list. You always wish you had a stomach full.

03/01/2026: We spent our New Year's holiday in Zermeghedo and ate at "La Taverna" three times. The appetizers, main courses, desserts, and drinks were simply fantastic. Top quality... Excellent prices. We'd go back anytime... Great service... Great chefs

03/01/2026: A visit to LaTaverna is definitely worthwhile! It's a very nice, cozy restaurant. The pizzas are absolutely delicious, and the bruschetta variations are simply amazing! But what I'll especially remember is the incredibly delicious tiramisu :-) And what's more, every single employee in the restaurant is incredibly friendly! We always received helpful advice and assistance when we didn't understand everything due to language barriers, and we were always greeted and looked after with great care. Thank you so much for the wonderful evenings!! :-)

28/12/2025: I've been coming here since it was a small, historic neighborhood restaurant. They do takeout and serve delicious dishes, from appetizers to pizza. Highly recommended!

26/12/2025: At Chez Antoine, only the restaurant's name is French. It's a small neighborhood restaurant, but with chef-quality cuisine. The welcome was fantastic. The dining room isn't large, and it was fully booked, but we still managed to get a table. And what a treat! The dishes are excellent, truly authentic Italian cuisine. I almost fell off my chair when I took my first bite of pizza, it was so good. The spaghetti was also excellent. Not to mention the panna cotta with wild berries... If I could have, I would have licked the jar! LOL. In short, a fantastic welcome, excellent food—don't go there to speak or eat French, but to enjoy a delicious meal. Oh yes, and all that (with 50cl of wine, a bottle of water, cutlery, and two ristrettos) for €39. I don't know about you, but we'll definitely be back!

08/01/2026: A good place for lunch or dinner, very good food, prices a little high, but the quality seems good. The pizza is also very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

02/01/2026: Disappointed… a bottle of water was brought without us asking and charged twice at the end instead of once! Also, be aware that they charge for cutlery (€3 per person). However, the pizzas are still relatively good for the price.
