Open on Mondays!
Delicious and large pizzas between 12 pm and €15.
However, there is a cover charge of €2 per person. This is unusual for us.
15/03/2026: Anyone complaining is really nitpicking. We hadn't made a reservation and still got a table. We found the atmosphere lovely, and the service was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious.

14/10/2025: Avoid this restaurant at all costs!
Totally unprofessional! We found ourselves standing in front of closed doors this afternoon, even though Google said the restaurant was open.
There's no indication on the website that the restaurant is closed today.
Can't be reached by phone either!
14/10/2025: I've been to the Grotto St. Anna a few times over the past few years, but each time I felt less hospitable and less welcomed as a guest. The sign on the gate in German stating that only drinks are served with food isn't exactly a welcome – it could certainly be addressed differently. And today, the absolute low point. As always, we walked to the grotto and unfortunately found ourselves in front of a locked gate. Even though Google and the website said it should be open from 12 p.m., we waited in vain for 40 minutes in front of the locked door before heading back. No "closed" sign, no voicemail, no information... and we weren't the only ones; they probably didn't need it.

12/10/2025: Exceptionally good food. I always go here when I'm in Cannobio by bus. It doesn't open until 12:00, but it's usually very busy!
11/10/2025: I've known this restaurateur for about 30 years. Back then, at S. Agata and now at Ponte Ballerino.
I enjoy strolling there in the afternoon and enjoying cappuccino and cake.
I only know his hot food at lunchtime. It's delicious Italian "home cooking" in the best sense of the word... always say yes... go for it when there's still something in the pot... the price/performance ratio is right... always, so far...

21/09/2025: A very nice restaurant with a view of the alpine dairy, and there are plenty of parking spaces directly in front. The menu offers everything from pasta to fish, meat, mussels, and vegetarian dishes.

27/10/2025: An Italian family business that could have come straight out of a commercial. Unobtrusive, human. We felt at home right away and—after trying several top-rated restaurants—went back to this one. It was simply the best (for us). The food was fantastic, the house wine delicious, and I'd come back more often for the espresso (€1.50 at your table). Speaking of prices: pizzas around €10 (large!), 1/4 liter of house wine €5 (or 3? It doesn't matter, it's good value). The only problem is that every other pizza I've had for a while has spoiled it. I've never had such a wafer-thin yet firm base, and the crust was airy and crispy.

Restaurant Lo Scalo

03/01/2026: The service was extremely disappointing. We had to wait forever for water, food, and the bill… no apology, no explanation. The food was okay, but having to wait that long for it was definitely not worth it.
07/11/2025: We went for an aperitif at the
Lo Scalo restaurant. It had a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and was very clean. We sat inside, which was well-heated, and ordered the platter of cured meats and cheeses. The flavors were excellent, authentic, and of high quality. The fried gnocco was SUPERB!!!!
The seafood spaghetti was delicious, as were the fillet steak and the pizza. In short, everything was perfect.
The kindness of the waiter and the sweetness of the owner were unique on Lake Maggiore. We'll gladly return to be pampered again.
Highly recommended.

The Ascoli olives were inedible, I took them and threw them all away!

18/06/2025: Schöne gedeckte Pergola, gegen Strasse und Fluss. Genug Parkplätze. Mittagsmenü 2 Gänge, Pasta und Fleisch mit 1 Glas Wein 15 Euro! Gute und freundliche Bedienung. Gerne wieder
26/05/2025: Fabulosa comida en un bonito entorno en las afueras de Cannobio. El plato de pasta era muy especial, así como mi gran filete. Carta de vinos y menú de bebidas.
Lo que realmente hizo la diferencia fueron los propietarios que eran muy amables e incluso nos dieron un aventón de vuelta a nuestro hotel ya que estaba lloviendo.

Après 1 heure d’attente nous avons reçu
notre plat dont le rapport qualité/prix n’est pas du tout juste!
Le patron était très désagréable, il a tourné des yeux tout le temps. Après avoir reçu des couteaux pour couper les pizzas, le patron les a enlevé sans commentaires.
Nous n’allons pas retourner dans ce restaurant.
23/03/2025: Tolles Lokal, leckeres Essen, freundlich Bedienung und jedesmal eine Freude bei LAURA & PAUL Gast zu sein :-) Ich gehe öfters hin und bin jedesmal Begeistert von dem leckeren Essen und dem angenehmen Ambiente.

01/05/2025: Un luogo tranquillo ma elegante, ordinato e silenzioso immerso nel verde di un fondo valle a pochi minuti da Cannobio.
Diciamo che la cucina eccelle per i raffinati sapori che lascia al palato veramente ben elaborati dagli chef.
Il vinello che ci hanno proposto è stato uno spettacolo, uno Schiava del Trentino, buono e fruttato.
Il prezzo vale quello che si mangia.
La qualità è sicuramente nei loro obiettivi per soddisfare il cliente.

Proprietari entrambi super cuochi.
Assolutamente da provare.
Pasta, gelato, pane ...fatti in casa.

31/03/2025: Das Essen im Pontile war so ausgezeichnet, dass wir gleich 3 Mal dort zu Abend gegessen haben. Die Bedienung war äusserst freundlich, speditiv und sehr kompetent. Die Speisen waren äusserst lecker, ansprechend zubereitet und angerichtet und zu sehr moderaten Preisen. Wir können das Pontile nur empfehlen.
