Le Strie

04/07/2025: Wonderful lunch. 41° in Este today, so the cool and calm interior of Le Strie was a very welcome discovery; the quality and imagination of the food was more welcome still. Primo: Bigoli with "corte" ragù (made from roasted white meats) which was subtle and delicious with a crisp glass of Manzoni Bianco. Secondo: Local chianina beef sausage with charred spring vegetables. Robust flavours, beautifully done and really satisfying. Heartily recommended!
12/06/2025: We went with our local friends to this beautiful little restaurant. Almost sophisticated atmosphere, not so big but very welcoming. It gave the impression of being very expensive because everything was very well-kept. We ordered two lasagnas with ragù di corte which were fabulous, the goodness of homemade, a spaghetti with pesto that our friend really appreciated, and the cold cuts and cheeses board that my husband ate... very rich, very well presented. I then chose a plate of vegetables... well-picked, all lined up, simple but exquisite; then two desserts that I didn't look at too much because otherwise I would have wanted to order. Despite the idea I had made, we paid the right amount... excellent quality/price. Genuine products, the service, I would dare say almost obsequious. Professionalism is at home. Congratulations.

30/04/2025: I find it anomalous to say the least in a place that calls itself a "tavern", but which doesn't have bulk wine available. In an area, among other things, (the Euganean hills), where there is a winery that produces wine practically every km. And even more anomalous is the fact that it doesn't even have a wine list. And be careful when asking! The owner might resent you and reply (as happened to me) "I'm the wine list!". If you then order a first course and ask if they can bring you some parmesan, the answer will be that it is already there. And then you have to insist, so in the end they bring it to you. Snorting, but they bring it to you. And as if that wasn't enough, you eat like in a restaurant, with a placemat and paper napkin, but you pay like in a restaurant. And what's more, you are treated badly and with disdain. Honestly, I'm surprised it's still open.
30/04/2025: A pearl found by chance.
We were returning from the Euganean Hills on April 25th and found this restaurant by searching on Google.
We stopped in this pearl managed by a girl who is very knowledgeable about wines and at the entrance we found her mother having lunch and she told us that the jarfiniera is made by her (she even explained the whole process with the blast chiller etc.).
However, we ate divinely: Vicenza-style cod, a platter of the right amount for two people with truly excellent cheeses and cured meats and obviously the giardiniera, a plate of bigoli with duck ragù.
To conclude, a particular biscuit made by them whose name I don't remember, really good with a good coffee.
Absolutely justified value for money, but above all an environment with a touch of personality certainly given by the creativity of the girl who manages it.
We add that we were with our dog, therefore kind also in this sense and we say goodbye to the three cats who act as reception at the entrance :-)
Congratulations indeed, these are the places you always want to find when you go around.
