Wasabi
Trieste
20/11/2025: The miso soup was basically hot water (there wasn't even any salt). We had to wait almost 30 minutes for the sushi, and when it arrived, the rice was overcooked, making each bite very soft. The chef should go back to Japan and learn how to cook Japanese food.
06/11/2025: Punctual and fast
Quality
Everything top notch :)

Michita Ristorante Giapponese
Trieste
22/04/2025: The food was all good, the service very fast, the price in line with other restaurants of the kind... but it is the menu that is the real plus, as it features dishes that are not usually found in all-you-can-eat restaurants.

Zushi Japanese Restaurant
Trieste
11/11/2025: I had fond memories of this restaurant, and I admit that the food was no exception: beautiful presentation, good-quality fish, and intriguing menu combinations that turned out to be delicious on the plate.
The only sore point is the service, which isn't far from the city average, which is a shame for a restaurant of this caliber.
My most recent experience a few days ago, at the zushi, wasn't pleasant at all, in this regard.
I arrived accompanied to the restaurant, around 9 pm on a Saturday, without a reservation. So much so, that I asked the first waitress I met if she was available to eat, even though the restaurant was conspicuously empty: there were, I think, five tables occupied in the entire restaurant, out of a total of at least 30 (it's very large and spacious). She smiled and told me we could come in, while the rest of the staff looked us over at the entrance and then ignored us without bothering to say hello. I know the limitations of this city and I don't pay attention to certain things anymore—this is an example, so no surprises so far.
We're shown to a very sad table in the corner of a corridor, next to the kitchen doors (I repeat: with 80% of the tables free). My underlying thought (I'm a very polite person—too polite in these situations) explains itself: there must be some logistical reason why they'd assigned us this tiny, out-of-the-way table.
A waitress, different from the one who welcomed us, first brings us the menus, then comes every three minutes to take our orders. On the third visit, we pretend to be ready because we're feeling so uncomfortable, I ask her if they're closing early. She, as if out of the clouds, replies no, that they'll close after 11 PM. At that point, I'm shocked because it's 9:20 PM and I feel like I'm disturbing just by coming in and being shown to Frodo Baggins's table.
Shortly afterward, a 40x40 cm plate arrives, along with two smaller plates with EVERYTHING we ordered (gunkan, rolls, nigiri, etc.—lucky we still have this habit of ordering coffee, dessert, and liqueurs at the end). I sarcastically point this out to the waitress, who clearly doesn't understand, or isn't interested, and doesn't respond, even though she herself is having trouble finding room for all the "delivery" on that tiny table. After playing Tetris with the plates with us, and a "bon appétit" as she turns away, the waitress leaves us and we eat. No one comes to ask us anything else, even though we're in a spot where everyone is forced to pass by... over and over again.
Now, I can understand everything, really, but if I want service like that, I'll go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant. If, on the other hand, you want me to fork over €50 each for sushi (let's realize we're not talking about the catch of the day), you owe me, at the very least, a modicum of consideration, without making me feel like a "bother" to the staff, as I expect from a place of this supposed caliber.
I'll once again speak in favor of the dishes I ordered, which I found to be the only positive aspect of the evening. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me less than satisfied with the evident expertise displayed in the kitchen.
19/10/2025: Clean place with very friendly staff, clear menu (not at all obvious for those who don't eat raw fish). Delicious food! Highly recommended restaurant!

Kaiyo Sushi
Trieste
16/10/2025: Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. We waited 40 minutes for the main course (the first course at the restaurant in the evening). Only one of the two arrived, and it was wrong. The second course didn't arrive for an hour. No apology or explanation from the staff. We definitely won't be back. The food was decent. In the meantime, however, all the takeaways were ready.
04/10/2025: We discovered this place recently after moving our headquarters to Opicina. The lunch menu is amazing, with a variety of options, and is excellent both in terms of quantity and as a lunch break. The service was top-notch, thanks to the lovely waitress, who served us and also helped us choose post-lunch bubble teas.

Sushi Queen
Trieste
12/09/2025: Excellent sushi in Trieste, all-you-can-eat lunch for €12.90. Very good quality, generous portions, and fast service. Highly recommended!
05/09/2025: The positive thing about this sushi is that it is cheaper than the average, and the quality is still quite good. The problem is the organization to get your plates. Sometimes they give you the wrong plates. And also even when there were few clients we had to wait a lot of time.

Piazza Verdi
Trieste
06/07/2025: The rice was half raw and crunchy when I chewed it, clearly not cooked enough. The polenta tasted strangely sour, almost as if it contained vinegar, completely inedible.
The staff was extremely insufficient. The waiter instead of taking care of the customers spent his time giving unsolicited advice on what to do and where to go.
The environment was unbearable due to the excessive heat. Despite the high temperatures, the air conditioners were not turned on even at the end. They simply opened all the windows and doors, letting swarms of mosquitoes in.
I will never return to this place and I advise anyone not to waste their money here. Non-existent service, incompetent kitchen and unpleasant environment. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to

Koko Sushi
Trieste
16/07/2025: We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We came as a family — one of us is vegetarian — and kindly asked if two of us could take the set menu, while the vegetarian could order à la carte (as the vegetarian options were extremely limited).
The response was surprisingly rude: we were told we had to sit at different tables if we wanted to order differently. We explained we were a family and simply wanted to dine together, but the waitress answered coldly and rigidly, then turned around and walked away without offering any alternative.
Any rule can be communicated with respect, especially if you care about your customers and the image of your restaurant. Something like: "I'm sorry, I understand your situation, but unfortunately we have this policy" would’ve been enough. A little kindness would have made all the difference.
The place itself was another disappointment: the room was dark and gloomy, nothing like the bright, cozy photos shown online. The restaurant is hidden in a shadowy side street near the main square — not welcoming at all.
And the waitress… instead of greeting us, she walked around as if annoyed by our very presence, almost irritated that tourists dared to enter. There were barely any locals — a red flag in itself.
We left without even trying the food.
Extremely negative experience. We won’t return and cannot recommend it.
16/07/2025: We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We came as a family—one of us is vegetarian—and we politely asked if it was possible to order the set menu for two and, for the vegetarian, choose something à la carte (since there were very few vegetarian options).
The response was surprisingly rude: we were told we had to sit at separate tables if we wanted to order something else. We explained that we were a family and simply wanted to eat together, but the waitress responded coldly and curtly, then turned and left without offering any alternatives.
Any internal rule of a restaurant can be communicated respectfully, if they truly care about their customers and the reviews they leave. It would have been enough to say, for example, "I'm sorry, I understand that you're a family, but unfortunately we have these rules. I hope you understand." A little politeness would have been enough to find a solution.
Instead, we had a very negative experience: terrible service, a cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. That evening, there were only two tables occupied—the place seemed deserted and devoid of energy. We left without even trying the food.
I don't recommend it at all.
