06/04/2025: Enchanting place immersed in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy (Irsina) a stone's throw from the historic center.
Friendly, friendly and helpful staff. High quality food and drinks, with very careful and careful artisanal preparation. Warm and welcoming environment with attached private room. Recommended are the pastiera in the variant of the Lucana recipe, the Foglia with Chantilly cream and pieces of cooked apple and the classic nuns' tit in all its flavours.
On the savory side I recommend the toasts but the piadinas are also not to be underestimated. The toast is well prepared with the right mix of cheese and ham.
Both sweet and savory, every little flavor of the ingredients is appreciated. Perhaps five stars will be exaggerated... But personally they are all worth it because it is rare to find friendliness, competence, quality and hospitality in one place.

20/04/2025: Cena per 6, cibi eccezionali cucinati con gusto. Abbiamo preso lo stracotto in crosta, le zuppe, due primi con pezzenta di maialino e pomodorini, vino, dolci. Ogni piatto dal più semplice al più complesso era gustoso e lavorato bene. Le materie prime si sentivano di prima qualità. Costo totale euro 100.
Molto soddisfatti. Personale gentile. Servizio ottimo.
19/04/2025: Sono tornata al paese per una visita con una mia zia che è di Irisna e mio marito che è di Napoli e ci siamo fermati alla trattoria Nigent dopo aver letto le recensioni online. La signora Gigia è una padrona di casa eccellente e ha saputo consigliarci bene per provare i piatti tipici della tradizione lucana senza strafare. Tutti prodotti locali freschi, di elevata qualità e piatti davvero ben preparati. I dolci della signora Gigia sono stratosferici e preparati con ingredienti freschissimi, e si sentiva. Il locale è molto ben arredato con elementi tipici Irisnesi che lo caratterizzano con eleganza senza strafare. Anche i vini e i liquori preparati dalla Signora Gigia e Mario erano davvero molto buoni. Esperienza da ripetere la prossima volta che torniamo al paese.

Caffe Ducale

03/05/2025: An experience that teaches how much the way we feel welcomed matters.
Saturday evening, 7.30pm. A friend and I enter the Ducale Ristorante & Pizzeria in Irsina, we smile, we greet with a simple and genuine "Good evening". The answer? A dry, cold and almost aggressive "Say!", pronounced by a man behind the counter, as if our greeting were an annoyance and not an act of education.
We ask: “A table for two, please.”
Without really looking at us, he replies icily: “At 8pm.” And he sends us away.
In that moment, more than rejected, we felt invisible. The "no" is not the problem. It's as they say. It is the absence of empathy, of respect, of minimal human hospitality.
The mind records these experiences more than one imagines: a door that closes, a wrong tone, one gesture too many can leave their mark.
Yet, it was 7.30pm, and Google clearly indicates that the place is open from 6.30pm to 12am. The refusal was not justified by any rule, but only by an attitude.
Welcoming isn't just serving food, it's creating connections. It's about making people feel welcome.
And in this, unfortunately, the Ducale failed completely.
