Small but welcoming place, kind and helpful staff, average prices, very average with typical dishes, and a good assortment of cured meats and cheeses.

We had lunch here during our stay in Matera. We had delicious, generously filled sandwiches, and the prices were reasonable considering they're in the center of Matera.

While visiting Matera, we stumbled upon Zio Nini. The menu immediately attracted me. Healthy, local food: 👍🏼 Friendly service. The aesthetics of the place could use a little more attention.

Perfect experience when you aim at local authentic food. Staff is really nice, they are kind and helpful. And if you want something not in the menu they help you to build up within local options as far as ingredients matters. The place is comfortable. In a old cave style warehouse. Interiors are minimalist but really nice with those barouque lights typical of the local festival parades. Maybe little odd if you move in wheelchair. Restroom is only one, is clean, is comfy. Service is fast. Nice selection of local wines also at high level, and interesting selections of beers also some local options here. Must have fave e cicoria and cialledda fredda, signature local dishes. Wild selection of panini filled with local ingredients from sun-dried tomatoes to dried chilly, peperoni crusco. Hope to be back here soon! Amazing!

As a Matera native living far from home, I was looking for a traditional place with local food. I discovered this little place by chance while strolling through the city center, and I must say I found exactly what I was looking for. Intimate atmosphere, excellent traditional food, and locals run it. Fair prices. Highly recommended.
