As soon as you arrive on the main road in the area called Sassi you will immediately find this small but welcoming place where you can savor many delicacies with excellent traditional local flavours. Bread, cured meats, cheeses, taralli, but above all first and second courses of every kind and taste, you are truly spoiled for choice and the prices are accessible. A plate of lasagna for 7 euros and a fantastic sandwich with sausage and caramelized onion for 5 euros are really excellent prices. It's an excellent choice for lunch on the go and is very easy to reach. Possibility to sit outside or inside if there is room. Very kind and friendly staff. This is a historic activity so be on the safe side. Advised.

Bottega di alimentari con piatti preparati tutti al forno, niente fritti, polpette, melanzane, paste a vari condimenti, carne in vari modi della tradizione molisana, vino della casa orgoglio dei proprietari, prezzi ragionevoli sia a pranzo che a cena, non si sbaglia soprattutto se avete un buon appetito

Nice, friendly... the lady is a guru in the kitchen... her husband is generous with advice The food they serve is top notch (if you don't want to spend money) I recommend them In Matera they are the best for me

È una storica bottega di alimentari con cucina e qualche tavolo fuori. Abbiamo provato con grande piacere: Patate arraganate, Polpette, Burratina con pomodori, orecchiette con cime di rapa. Prezzi contenuti. Si mangia bene come dalla nonna materana.

10/01/2025: In September, my husband and I dined at this one-Michelin-starred cave restaurant in Matera. The simple decor emphasized the stunning cave walls and ceiling. I appreciated the option to choose dishes instead of a set menu, especially as someone without a sweet tooth. The waiter recommended dishes marked with years as their best, and we tried: - I Dropped an Egg in the Garden (2013) - Pizza in “Black” (2012) - Sea Bass in Crusted Black Olives, Occhipinti Beans, and White Chocolate Water with Vinegar (2017) - Zitoni with Meat Ragu and its Sauce (2010) - Misery and Nobility (2011) The dishes were beautifully artistic. Our favorites were the sea bass, with its unique pairing of white chocolate, and the egg with vegetables and chocolate cookie crumble. For two people, the HEART 5-course meal with one wine-pairing and a few additional glasses of wine came to 370 euros. Highly recommend for a one-of-a-kind dining experience in a Matera cave.
08/01/2025: Favorite bite was the Shrimp Crudo on Lemon Tagliatelle. From start to finish, service was amazing and the wine selections are vast but not intimidating. Overall fantastic experience and congrats to them on Michelin again.

07/01/2025: We found this place by chance and after having made a mistake with another restaurant located nearby: extremely helpful and well-trained staff, exquisite and quality first courses, excellent location as it is a restaurant created inside Matera's quarries. The price of the desserts was a little excessive but a negligible detail compared to the welcome and the excellent product we found. Highly recommended
