I had to try the "famous casoncelli" for a friend, and luckily we found a table. Very friendly service. Spectacular casoncelli with generous portions. The meat was also excellent. I've marked it on my agenda for my next visit to the Bassa.
I'll also order a portion of casoncelli to take home.

If you want to eat Brescian casoncello, come here. It's a small, old-fashioned place, but it has everything you need. Homemade casoncello. Good wine selection. Reservations recommended.

What can I say? The casoncelli at Barbariga are always exceptional. A classic trattoria in the lower Brescia area where eating is an insane pleasure. We had appetizers, two pairs of casoncelli, including the pumpkin ones, which were truly magnificent. Finally, the beef in olive oil was delicious. Excellent selection of wines and spirits, too.
Definitely worth returning.

The number one casoncelli in Brescia.
An old-fashioned trattoria with tables facing the bar and two other rooms. The service staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a set menu lunch featuring the legendary casoncelli di Barbariga in two varieties: meat and herbs, seasoned with melted butter and sage...a delight.
The appetizer of mixed cured meats accompanied by mushrooms in oil, pickled vegetables, and peppers in oil was also very good. The house wine, Montenetto di Capriolo al Colle, was very good. The price was more than reasonable.
We didn't manage to eat either the main course or the dessert.
Highly recommended.
P.S.: My dog was welcomed with great enthusiasm.

Reading up on the history of casoncello, we're pleased to note that Barbariga is one of its founders.
Driven by curiosity, we searched Google and came across the Cavallino trattoria, where we were struck by the history of the place we'd read on their website.
Without hesitation, we made a reservation!
Once we arrived, the first, wonderful image we had was a sweet lady at the bar, ready to welcome her guests.
The place has a rustic feel, like the places of old, and we thought to ourselves:
We're in the right place!
We were then greeted by Massimo, a delightful man who welcomed us in a way that rarely happens in restaurants.
Naturally, we immediately ordered two of the three types of casoncelli they offer:
Delicious! Which prompted us to order the third type, the traditional Brescian one—wonderful!
The second course surprised us with a seemingly simple cold beef dish with oil, garlic, and parsley, which turned out to be exquisite!
To finish, a homemade apple crumble tart.
What can I say...
Beyond the quality/price ratio, which is hard to find elsewhere, the friendliness, the lively dining room, and the locally sourced food made for a noteworthy lunch.
We'll definitely be back when we're in Barbariga again!
