A typical Milanese trattoria, very local in terms of menu and service. The food and style are 100% authentic to the Lombardy and Milanese regions. Not suitable for first-time tourists or large groups; if you go as a couple or a group of four or more, you'll be more likely to find a table, and if you can reserve by phone, even better. And be sure to adjust to Italian hours; this place doesn't have continuous service (as is typical in local restaurants and trattorias). It closes at 2:30 pm and reopens for dinner.
The cotoletta milanese was excellent. It exceeded my expectations.

Classic trattoria in Milan is a must visit, we ordered the Osso buco (of course) with artichoke and mixed salad. All excellent -the osso was of particular note, slightly firmer than I’ve had, redolent of marrow and a wonderfully understated sauce paired beautifully with the saffron forward risotto Milanese. They exceeded expectations!

Historic building tucked away on a street not far from the Duomo. I may have been the only tourist in the restaurant. Delicious risotto, ossumbucco and of course red wine. Great art on the walls, historic wood and barrel brick ceiling.

There were three of us, and we had a starter, main course, and dessert. Everything was delicious, and the service was excellent. The waiters were incredibly friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended.

I went there on the recommendation of an Italian person living in Milan. I had Cassoeula, a traditional stew from the Milan region. It's a rich dish made by simmering pork and cabbage for a long time. I ordered it because it's only available in winter, but it was quite a large portion (32 euros for just this). I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it if I took a break, so I ate it all in one go. For dessert, I had a pudding with caramel on top. Along with some delicious drinks, I was very satisfied and full. Even on a weekday, the restaurant was always busy with customers. Perhaps because this restaurant is so prestigious, there were no female staff, and everyone was a waiter.

Dining at Trattoria Milanese was nothing short of a revelation. Every single dish was mind-blowingly delicious — the kind of food that makes you pause mid-bite, look at your companions, and smile because you know you’re experiencing something truly special.
The flavors were deep, honest, and perfectly balanced — classic Milanese cuisine executed with soul, confidence, and absolute mastery. Nothing felt forced or overworked; everything tasted like tradition refined by decades of love and skill.
But what truly elevated the experience from exceptional to unforgettable was Nino Tony, our Sicilian gentleman— the undeniable heart and character of this restaurant. Charming, warm, effortlessly charismatic, and full of genuine passion, he didn’t just serve the food; he guided the experience. His presence brought humor, elegance, and a sense of being welcomed like family rather than customers.
Restaurants like this are rare. This isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a place to feel. Trattoria Milanese delivers excellence on the plate and magic in the room. One of those meals you’ll remember long after you leave Milan — and one you’ll return to without hesitation.
Simply unforgettable.
