Personally, I didn’t like the place. The service was slow and not very professional — the waiter struggled to describe the drinks and dishes. The food was average for the price, and the space felt too big and soulless compared to other Italian restaurants I’ve been to.

The food was delicious, the place was beautiful, and the waiters were very friendly. Matías from Peru served us and we felt very comfortable.

Good Tuscan-style food, service a little slow but our server seemed like he was new, so can be expected. Atmosphere at our particular table wasn’t great - lots of different areas to the restaurant, so recommend doing some research of where to request table

Wonderful place recommended by a friendly taxi driver, very suggestive full of paintings, sculptures, a bit of a noir atmosphere, exquisite food... vaguely touristy place... friendly, nice and very easy-going waiter, full place, I waited very little because the taxi called before arriving... there were loads of people... 90 percent tourists of all nationalities, I ate some really good mixed crostini, pasta with duck ragù and mushrooms and truffles... a bit heavy but super good, the prosecco they brought me was also excellent, prices a bit high but that's okay, a truly special restaurant. Absolutely worth trying. Recommended!

Andrea, the waiter, was a 10... super friendly, attentive, and pleasant. The food was spectacular. 100% recommended.

14/07/2025: La Trattoria Il Portale si trova molto vicino alla stazione di Santa Maria Novella. Abbiamo mangiato lì un giorno perché era vicino al nostro hotel, l'Hotel Embassy. Si tratta di un ristorante molto carino, con una bella decorazione e molto elegante. Il menu è abbastanza completo e hanno tutti i tipi di pasta e pizza, oltre a vari piatti di carne e pesce. Il cibo era molto gustoso e molto ben presentato. Le porzioni non erano molto abbondanti. Il prezzo non era male, anche se un po' più costoso rispetto agli altri ristoranti della zona. L'attenzione è stata buona.
17/06/2025: I went without a reservation and was able to eat right away~ The T-bone steak, truffle pasta, and recommended wine were all delicious. I didn't know it was a great restaurant ^^

09/06/2025: Vine sin reservas y no fue muy inteligente, pero me ofrecieron un lugar encantador en el bar con magníficas vistas: bar señora haciendo numerosos Negroni y su asistente cortando el prosciutto. Pedí una botella muy agradable de vino rosa espumoso, pato y pulpo. Como complemento, cada huésped recibe varios panes de la panadería del restaurante. Debo decir que el pan, todo fue increíble. Y los platos calientes estaban impecablemente deliciosos y muy bien servidos. No hace falta decir que el ambiente y el servicio estaban por encima de todas las expectativas.
04/06/2025: Some of the best food we have in Florence and great atmosphere and vibe. Their wine bar next door is also a popular spot for locals who drink out on the street throughout the night, so their restaurant and wine bar make for a perfect date night.
