You can't pass through these parts without stopping at Trattoria Vigezzina. Everything is truly excellent. The house antipasti and the house amaro, Mentino, are superb. The desserts are sophisticated and delicious. The service is exceptional, and the chef personally cares about customer satisfaction. Fantastic!

I was strolling through the area and we didn't know where to eat. We passed by and saw this place, arriving without a reservation. I was already surprised by the smile of the girl who greeted us; she very kindly gave us a table for two. The place is beautifully curated, organized, and exudes tranquility. The service wasn't 5-star, but it was acceptable considering how busy the restaurant was. The cheese tasting was fantastic, accompanied by honey 🍯 - 100% recommended! Pasta with tomatoes and basil 🌿 - what can I say! Super fragrant, delicious 😋 - excellent quality! Ragù di lepre con tagliatele?? Also super tasty 😋 Enthusiastic compliments to the owner, Giovanni!

I don't usually review restaurants and bars, but Trattoria Vigezzina truly deserves all my praise. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, Michela is always ready to welcome you with a smile, and Carlo is an excellent chef who is attentive to his customers. The staff is no exception: helpful, friendly, and kind. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a warm, family atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing Sunday lunch with the family or for more important events. I ate the best fritto misto of my life, just as good as the Neapolitans and Sicilians. Support these young people who have given this restaurant a fresh, new look. Keep up the good work ❤️.

Trattoria Vigezzina is practically a true Ossola institution: everyone knows it for its historic fame, the high quality, especially of the meat, and the attention the service gives to each diner is top-notch. Before moving away from Ossola, I was fortunate enough to dine at this restaurant a couple of times, taking away pleasant memories—especially of the chateaubriand, the symbol of Vigezzina and one of the most iconic dishes I've ever eaten. After almost 10 years, I was able to return to Vigezzina, hoping those memories would be confirmed today. And I must say that, despite a few lapses, the food at Vigezzina continues to be good, especially the meat, whose quality is beyond excellent. We only needed to try the tartare to understand: I've rarely eaten meat this good raw. The seasoning was simple and light—it was the quality of the meat that provided the full flavor structure. The grated black truffle on top was very delicate, and perhaps, in a way, better that way, because it wasn't covering the star. For our first course, we had two homemade tagliolini with generous gratings of truffle. The dish wasn't exactly convincing: the pasta was truly delicious, but it was a shame the sauce was so thin, precisely because the truffle's delicacy didn't seem to make its mark on the dish. But redemption wasn't long in coming with the second course: the best beef fillet with green peppercorns I've ever eaten. As a lover of this great Italian classic, I have to try it if it's on the menu. Knowing how prized Vigezzina beef is, our expectations were sky-high: they were exceeded at least 70 times over! A fillet so tender, perfectly rare—and big kudos to the chef for keeping it warm in the center without overcooking the meat, a feat not to be underestimated given its thickness—I don't think I've ever had one. The sauce had a balance that's hard to put into words: needless to say, it was mopped up perfectly, including the extra meat sauce brought on the side. After all this excitement, I admit that dessert dampened the joy of the moment a bit: intrigued by the coconut parfait, I decided to try it, but it wasn't anything special. The coconut wasn't there, the cocoa crumble didn't complement anything else on the plate, and the passion fruit added a bitter touch that didn't complement anything else. A wasted opportunity, a shame. The bread and breadsticks brought to the table are definitely worth mentioning: everything was homemade, and you could taste the care and skill put into it with every bite. The service was top-notch: you felt pampered from start to finish, and there wasn't a single waiter who didn't indulge in a few jokes. It was also nice that the chef came directly to the table to ask how the dinner was going. Despite its fame, the prices of Vigezzina are only slightly higher than current standards, largely justified by the quality of the raw material.

We found this trattoria by chance on our way back from Saas Fee, and what can I say?...we were absolutely delighted!!! 😍 The photos I'll post speak for themselves: wonderful ravioli, amazing fillet Rossini. Very efficient service, with a smile and patience, despite the restaurant being almost full. Once again, by chance, we had the opportunity to exchange interesting opinions with Chef Carlo and his wife, a very young couple who have been undertaking this new challenge for a year now, bringing culinary innovations to this historic 19th-century trattoria... and so much kindness!

On a scorching Sunday lunch, before climbing up to Vigezzo, I ended up here by chance. Very friendly from the start, excellent selection of first and second courses (bread, breadsticks, and pasta are clearly handmade, often with seeds or other goodies). I sit down and imagine there will be a wait, but instead the first course arrives quickly: handmade tagliatelle with a truly delicious hare ragù, a great portion. Overall, a truly fair price for the quality and service. Thank you so much, and see you next time! Giovanni

Just a stone's throw from Domodossola and the village of Masera, you'll find Trontano, the first stop on the Vigezzina Trail. We immediately felt at home. I went down to the cellar with Carlo and we thoroughly enjoyed the traditional dishes revisited with a contemporary twist, carefully crafted both in terms of color and food pairings. The staff were efficient and friendly; we'll definitely be back. 💯
