Trattoria Vecchio Borgo In Castelbelforte

Stoppped here on the way from Bologna to Dolomites. The meals were slightly average. Nothing bad, nothing outstanding. Service was friendly.

The frog risotto and donkey stew ravioli were superb! This is an excellent trattoria with a homey atmosphere, highly recommended!

Twice a year we travel south. Our trip begins and ends in Castelbelforte. Unfortunately, this trattoria is closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings. We now try to stay overnight in the town on the other days because this trattoria is a real highlight. It's always a pleasure to try the dishes, and every time we're greeted with the perfect bread basket. The pizzas and pasta dishes are always delicious and expertly prepared. I'm already looking forward to our next trip!

I went to dinner at this "trattoria"...wonderful! The food was excellent and the service was super welcoming. The risotto alla pilota, which I'm not familiar with, was excellent, and the charcuterie board was simply perfect. The desserts also deserve an A+. So, in conclusion, you can't pass by here without stopping by for dinner!!! P.S. There's no photo of the riso alla pilota...I didn't have time to take one...it was already sold out 😊

Wonderful experience!! I had a wonderful time. The owner was very knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and above all, personable. The dishes arrived promptly and were incredibly delicious. I absolutely recommend you go there, you'll be delighted ☺️

Lunch with my wife...I left from Bolzano because I wanted to savor the flavors of Mantua...well, what can I say...I was completely satisfied. Compliments to the kitchen and the dining room staff. Highly recommended. Thank you

Update April 2026. It's still the number one place to stop for a meal. I reiterate all the positive comments I wrote the first time two years ago and add a photo of the tagliolini with radicchio and smoked duck. ❤️ Original review 2024. I think it was the most pleasant discovery of the last few months. We stopped here because it was on the way home and it looked nice. It was a delicious dinner, starting with the bread and crostini, which I'm not kidding when I say they're the best I've ever eaten. We had an appetizer of eggplant millefeuille with potato rosti and pesto, delicious. Finally, two first courses: the bigoli with sardines, very good and surprisingly delicate. I don't like sardines, but I tried them and I have to say I could have eaten them (I generally can't even stand the smell of sardines), so amazing. Instead, I ordered the Bigoli cacio e pepe with cherry tomatoes, one of the best things I've ever eaten, and I'm not kidding. The Bigoli were cooked perfectly, my favorite. Plus, with our coffee, they offered us a sbrisolona biscuit (I don't like sbrisolona, ​​and neither does my boyfriend). We fought over the biscuit, but I think it's the best dry pastry biscuit I've ever eaten. I know this review might seem overly positive, but it was truly an excellent dinner. The dishes were generous and the quality was unbeatable, especially during this time of year. If I had to make a comment, the cacio e pepe was very spicy, but then again, it's cacio e pepe 😅, so be careful if you order it. Excellent service and exquisite staff, and even that's hard to find these days. I can't wait to go back for the main courses 🥰

I stopped for a business lunch. Excellent and plentiful starters. Lots of side dishes to choose from. Coffee included. All for €23.

Typical restaurant in the Mantua area. Business lunch. Pumpkin tortelli to die for. Simple and welcoming. I loved it. The bread they brought me was varied and delicious.
