28/07/2025: The pure Sicilian cuisine pleasantly surprised us. Delicious, honest dishes. Super friendly service.
21/07/2025: We went to A Lumia in Brescia for the first time. I'd been wanting to try it for a while, but for one reason or another, I'd never gotten around to it. Today we finally went.
We were curious to try the panelle, but unfortunately they weren't available, nor were any other items on the menu. We opted for a caponata, which turned out to be very good, and three arancini. Unfortunately, the rice was completely overcooked; the grain had turned into a sort of cream. The cheese inside was hard and wouldn't melt. The breading also left a bit to be desired. We mentioned this to the owner; initially, she seemed a bit annoyed, but her son appreciated our mentioning it and recognized the value of constructive criticism.
We also tried a sandwich with Nebrodi mortadella and primo sale cheese: good, yes, but nothing exceptional. It's a shame the sandwiches aren't made with Sicilian bread; we'd been told that, but in my opinion, traditional bread would have really made a difference.
The cannoli was decent, quite good.
The service was courteous and helpful.
The restaurant, however, leaves a bit to be desired: the atmosphere is very old, neglected, and with obvious signs of damp. I think it needs a major renovation. We spent €26 in total.
