I've been there several times for lunch or dinner....it's cheap for everything they offer and for the beautiful view of Lake Maggiore. The food is excellent, even if it's always the same. Highly recommended for those who love mountain cuisine: game, mushroom risotto, tagliatelle, polenta, etc.

Trattoria San Salvatore is located just above Massino Visconti in the upper Vergante region, nestled in a chestnut forest and adjacent to the beautiful 13th-century hermitage of the same name. The trattoria has a stunning terrace with a view of Lake Maggiore and several lakes in the Varese area, priceless on clear days. It also has a covered veranda that can also be used in the winter, and several indoor dining rooms. The menu is what you'd expect from such a place. The appetizer consists of quality cured meats, cheeses, and pickles. First courses, during this period, feature porcini mushrooms, and the second course consists of various stewed meats (rabbit, sausage, bruscitt, etc.) accompanied by excellent rustic polenta. The desserts are the perfect finishing touch. They offer tarts, all homemade, with various types of fruit. Friendly service and excellent value are the added value of this place. Trattoria San Salvatore was a delightful discovery... P.S. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the dishes as I usually do but not the view 🤷‍♂️

Lunch for a baptism. The food was excellent: house appetizers, exceptional risotto and ravioli, pork shank with potatoes, and roast beef with spinach. The service was excellent.

A historic trattoria, perhaps the best place to have lunch or a snack while enjoying the splendid view of the three lakes. Priceless.
