Everything was delicious, an old Milanese trattoria with the right atmosphere, a small, well-organized place with polite and helpful staff, always full... dishes on time, as are the prices... highly recommended...

Last meal in Milan before heading back to Belgium.
A superb experience.
Simple, unpretentious, but authentic dishes!
We went there for the tripe, but unfortunately, they didn't have any. No big deal, though; it gave us the chance to try other things.
We loved it.
Thank you for this culinary journey and the friendly atmosphere of your establishment.
Don't change a thing; we hope to come back! 😉

Unfortunately, we were sitting just steps from the entrance. Not the best. Everything else was empty, but perhaps they had a reservation. Anyway, we had reservations too.
The bread basket was minimal. They only bring three at the end because the food isn't abundant and you need it if you're hungry.
I had the ravioli with zucchini flowers (€9.50). You can't taste the flowers. They put the Grana cheese on them, so you can barely see it. Luckily, I saw a 10cm hair on the ravioli. I ate it anyway. Overall, it was good.
I had the osso buco with polenta. Not much polenta, not much osso buco (for €15).
The polenta tasted just a little. The meat was tender and well-cooked, but not much flavor.
€16 for the Buttafuoco.
I'll stop here.

Osso buco not to my liking.

A classic trattoria from days gone by. Good food. Excellent value. A small restaurant in the center of Milan worth discovering.

Rustic cuisine, not overly elaborate, but tasty, well-prepared traditional dishes. Portions are generous and the price is reasonable. We had pumpkin ravioli, ossobuco with polenta, and roast rabbit with herbs. All dishes were very tasty and well-prepared. Very quick service.

One of those experiences that reconnects you with Milanese cuisine. As soon as you walk through the doors of Trattoria Sabbioneda Da Romolo, you immediately feel the warm, familiar, authentic atmosphere that is increasingly difficult to find these days. Soft lighting, traditional furnishings, and aromas wafting from the kitchen that make you hungry before you even sit down: everything contributes to a welcoming and delightful atmosphere.
The menu is surprisingly varied, with dishes that respect tradition while also demonstrating remarkable care and quality. I started with a pesto pasta that left me speechless: fragrant, creamy, balanced, made with fresh ingredients and a confident touch. A seemingly simple first course, but executed to perfection.
For my second course, I chose ossobuco with polenta, and this truly represents home cooking done right. The meat was tender, flavorful, and slow-cooked until almost buttery. The polenta, soft and enveloping, complemented the dish impeccably. A pairing that describes Milan better than any guidebook.
To conclude, a tiramisu that deserves a special mention: light, creamy, with just the right balance of sweetness and the intensity of the coffee. One of those desserts that makes you close your eyes for a second. All accompanied by an excellent red wine, carefully selected and perfect for enhancing each course.
The value for money is surprising, especially considering the area and the quality of the dishes. You can sense the passion, care, and desire to offer an authentic experience without compromise.
I left feeling completely satisfied, with the feeling of having found a place to return to often, whether for a quiet dinner or to impress friends or colleagues. A trattoria truly worth discovering and appreciating.

Discovered on the recommendation of a nearby shopkeeper. We were coming from Rome...and every time I'm in Milan, lunch (or dinner) there is a must! Highly recommended!

Great food, but it gets busy quickly. I arrived at 7:05pm, was told I had one hour, and saw several people turned away even though there were a few open tables. My understanding was that they were reserved for guests that haven't arrived yet, and I’ve experienced similar situations at other restaurants in Italy. Reservations are common, but it's not always clear how to make one. They may also reach kitchen capacity before filling every table, though that’s just my guess.
In short: excellent food, if you can secure a seat.
