Trattoria Ruggero In Firenze

After visiting Palazzo Pitti and the entire garden, stopping at this wonder of local toscan food was the best choice ever. The food was delicious, the people very friendly and the atmosphere made us feel like we are in the real Italy.

Ruggero is a hidden gem from another era, tucked away in the beautiful Port Romana area. A must-try if you want to savor excellent Tuscan cuisine in a warm, welcoming, and unfussy atmosphere! Highly recommended ;)

As a preface, here are my review rules. - Please view these as personal review entertainment only. - I generally use a 3-star scale. What you'd call average. - As everyone's financial sense is different, I won't comment on cost-effectiveness unless absolutely necessary. - I have an allergy (to tobacco), so I will be strict in this regard. - I will not take or post photos or videos. A friendly trattoria nestled in Florence. The pizza dough has excellent flavor. The Margherita in particular is a perfect combination of the acidity of the tomato sauce, the richness of the mozzarella, and the fragrant aroma from the wood-fired oven. The light yet robust texture is the result of skilled work. Of particular note is the bistecca (beef steak), which is slowly cooked in a wood-fired oven. The surface is crispy and fragrant, and the inside is filled with surprisingly clear juices. A primitive and delicate flavor that could never be achieved with electricity or gas. The octopus and potato salad I had as an appetizer was simple, yet the quality of the ingredients stood out. The owner's confidence is evident in his simplicity, as he serves food without any unnecessary seasonings, just with olive oil, salt, and the sweetness of the ingredients. A restaurant that speaks to the essence without trying to be eccentric. A local customer sitting next to me said that Fiorentina, who knows all about simple and delicious food, describes this restaurant as "the place I'll come back to one day." It's no wonder. Spending time with a glass of Chianti in hand, listening to the crackling of the wood, is an irreplaceable luxury. By the way, smoking is apparently prohibited inside restaurants in Florence. Awesome! My food journey continues.

This is a proper restaurant about 30 minutes walk from centre of Florence south of river past Pitti Palace. But It really is worth making the effort to come here. Fabulous food from very interesting menu (no English translation, but don't worry waitress very helpful). I opted for Bologna first course tortellini in brodo and it was as good as any I've had in Bologna. The roast pork my wife had for main course was fabulous; she let me try it and I nearly finished it for her And the cheesecake? Historic, as Michael Winner used to say. And something else important and quite possibly unique in Florence restaurants: proper napkins/serviettes of cloth material instead of horrible tissues. Is that important? Yes extremely This was definitely the best restaurant we went to Florence in our 4 night stay in this beautiful city

Outstanding local restaurant in Florence on the way to Sienna. It all came together here and we had a great meal.

A Florentine trattoria serving Florentine dishes, all perfectly executed, at more than fair prices is almost impossible. I say almost only because Ruggero is there. A steak for 5 euros per 100 grams in Florence at a historic restaurant in that location is eye-watering. Then you taste it and rub your taste buds. Anyway, I told him as much when we left when it came time to get the bill on Friday night, and I'm confirming it here, so it's an incentive to keep going as long as possible.

A welcoming, family-run restaurant. The friendly, courteous staff make you feel right at home. The food is delicious, from appetizers to dessert. I recommend it to everyone!

A typical Florentine trattoria with many traditional dishes. I tried the tortelli, which were fabulous, and the house-made braciola al pomodoro was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the price was excellent for the quality of the food. They could use a few more seats, and finding parking is a nightmare, especially for non-Florentines, but even for Florentines.
