Hotel and restaurant in a superb position with a terrace overlooking the sea, but unfortunately our room - like some hotel rooms - was close to the main road of Trieste, therefore a lot of traffic and too much noise even at night. Not suitable for those looking for a quiet place to sleep in peace. Breakfast served on the terrace with sea view, with choice of food and drinks to be made the previous day with a specific list issued at reception. Value for money not positive as the cost is very high if proportionate to the services provided. Very small room with ordinary furniture.

Location in Barcola, directly on the sea. Splendid view. A big applause for the staff. Excellent breakfast (also for celiacs). The restaurant is good. The room where we stayed was a little cramped. The car park is very small with limited availability of spaces and on the adjacent road it is not easy to find a free space.

We stayed for a week for the opportunity to see the Barcolana 56. Tactical post about 4 km from the center of Trieste. Out of the casino and close to everything. They look like really well-placed L-shaped bungalows. I recommend the seafront rooms or the suites right in front of the seafront rooms. Which are far from the road. However you can't hear the road and the railway from the hill side. Internal parking shared with the Tre Merli restaurant but we have never had any problems and furthermore the parallel L-shaped restaurant serves as a breakfast room as well as being the best in the Barcola district for us. However, there are huge car parks on the main road outside the structure. Paid but discounted for the Barcolana of the type you buy bus tickets to Trieste and you can park for free. You can find all the parking spaces from here to the Trieste station because it is well known that in the center of Trieste there are few parking spaces. From here on it can be used as a springboard for visits to Slovenia "very close" to visit the Postojna caves or Predjama castle, upon payment of the "Vignette" motorway tax.

Volevo il miglior ristorante sul mare a Trieste, ho scelto i tre merli. Location incantevole. Arriviamo in tempo per goderci uno splendido tramonto. Ci fanno accomodare su un tavolo un po' arrugginito senza tovaglia con una sola tovaglietta americana di materiale plastico, sottopiatti di plastica e l'ombrellone sporco e con i buchi. Fin qui un po' deluso. Ma sì sa bisogna contenere i costi. Il menù si compone di pochi piatti, semplici, per niente elaborati e invitanti. Scegliamo 2 antipasti misti e calamari alla griglia. Il cameriere con aria da osteria ci offre fuori menù del tonno scottato che io scelgo come secondo. Mangiamo gli antipasti, buoni ma niente di eccezionale e neanche abbondanti. Arrivano i secondi, 5 calamaretti alla griglia, 1 rondella di zucchina, 1 di melanzana e una striscia di peperone. Il mio tonno è uno spettacolo, spesso blocco di carne con fagiolini e 4 chips. Al primo assaggio sembra di mangiare tonno in scatola, chiamo la cameriera e chiedo cosa ne pensa della cottura. Senza batter ciglio mi cambia immediatamente il piatto con un altro che apprezzo e finisco con piacere. 1 litro di acqua naturale, mezzo litro di prosecco sfuso servito in un contenitore di plastica con il ghiaccio. Alla cassa ci viene presentato un conto di 137€ che noi paghiamo. Uscendo dal ristorante controlliamo il conto in quanto ci sembra un po eccessivo. E ci accorgiamo che ci è stata addebitata una pasta ai ricci di mare, e un litro di vino in più. Torniamo in dietro e facciamo notare che probabilmente c'è stato uno sbaglio. Ci viene chiesto se davvero non abbiamo mangiato la pasta. Chiediamo di consultare il cameriere che prontamente conferma le nostre consumazioni senza la pasta e il vino i più. Ci viene restituita la differenza. Che dire, torniamo a casa insoddisfatti delusi e con la fame.
