I had a positive experience at this restaurant. The first courses were cooked quite well, and the quality of the ingredients seemed very good. However, the kindness and friendliness of the staff is my most vivid memory.

I didn't know this place, a friend recommended it to me, and I have to say, I was completely amazed. If they ask for the daily platter with three types of out-of-this-world cheeses and three types of out-of-this-world cured meats, order it, it's worth it. The Carbonara 10 was the best I've ever had. The chocolate mousse dessert was also unique, but out-of-this-world. I'll be back. A tip: if you're going for a specific number of days, book a few days in advance, as it's always full.

Roman-style both in the ambiance and the food, with a seasonal menu featuring dishes that pay homage to both tradition and a touch of subtle, sustained innovation.
The price is fair, the service excellent, and the desserts are unexpectedly noteworthy (I especially recommend the mousse with carasao bread and rosemary oil). Trattoria Pennestri is definitely a trattoria where you can eat well.

Have been here several times over the years. This time the meal was underwhelming. I ordered the beef heart and it was very plain and indistinguishable from any other cut of beef. Rest of the menu was fairly traditional and had a hard time finding interesting things to order. Will come back again to give another chance though as all other visits have been good. Service was wonderful as usual

Excellent trattoria serving typical Roman cuisine: quality ingredients and delicious, generous traditional dishes. The atmosphere is very rustic yet contemporary: truly welcoming and refined in its simplicity. The service is attentive and the staff friendly. I'll just add a couple of comments, which are meant to be constructive, because I highly recommend this trattoria and we'll definitely be back: the carbonara and gricia were amazing, you could mop up the bread with bread, but they were a bit too salty. The service is also excellent, but the wait can be very long. Prices are average. In any case: amazing!

It's delicious, the waiters are very kind, but pay attention! They offer you a glass of wine (€7.5) while you are waiting in line, and they don’t tell you whether it’s free or not. They also put bread with and tomato on your table (€1). Remember: in Italy, water is not free, neither is the glass of wine or the bread. That said, the food, the atmosphere, and the waiters are all very nice
