I returned after an absence of eight years, that is, since they opened a few months earlier. I found the professional place I remembered, with truly excellent cuisine and attentive, courteous service: a true contemporary osteria, the likes of which can be counted on one hand in Rome. The two appetizers I tried were truly remarkable: marinated beef, hazelnuts, and buffalo caciotta; roast pumpkin, goat cheese, and mixed salad with yogurt. I'll return every day. Perfect prices. The owner is the perfect blend of professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. Bravo, bravo, bravo. One of my favorite places in Rome.

ALWAYS GOOD
We've returned to our family, and it's still a place with welcoming, helpful staff and high-quality, refined products.
We start with Crostini, Butter and Anchovies, Savory Rustic Pie, and Tomato Meatballs (excellent, old-fashioned).
Followed by (quality) Cod Puttanesca, Pici with Chicory and Pecorino Conciato di San Vittore, Pici with Wild Boar Ragù, Pecorino, and Sweetbreads Mugnaia-style.
With excellent warm, quality bread (finally, without improvers), water, two excellent sulfites-free wines, Financier, Ciambelline with Ratafià, and coffee: €48 per person.
Special Mention for the excellent selection of authentic wines with indigenous fermentation and no sulfites.
Excellent Price/Quality Ratio (I didn't give the Maximum due to small flaws such as the butter on the hot crostini melting and losing its contrasting element with the anchovies and some small oversights).

Below you will find my review of two years ago. Wow, how things can go south! This time the food was fine (or just ok), but the atmosphere, and especially the service were bad, or really to be blunt, horrible. We arrived at 8PM and by 10:45 we gave up on ordering dessert, even if we had patiently waited for menus, and then for first course and then for second course, but because upon requesting a dessert menu the waiter ignored us and brought the dessert menus to the table next door which, being fully fluent in Italian, clearly deserved better service. The atmosphere was very loud, and the front door, in front of whch we were seated, was being alternately kept open and closed, going from cold and drafty to warm (make up your mind, once and for all please). Just a very unpleasant experience, will never be back and wont recommend it to any friend. And here is my much more positive review of late 2023:
Surprisingly good, one of the beast meals we had in our 30 day sin Rome. The service was attentive, if not openly friendly. The ambience is, well, we sat outdoors and the street is not particularly nice. For mains I ordered the sweetbreads and they were delicious, prepare as well as I have ever hat them (many times, trust me , i am old). My wife enjoyed beef. Of the appetizers a seasonal dish with baked pumpkin was excellent. The tiramisu for dessert was just ok. Nice wince list. Highly recommended.

I went for dinner at Trattoria Pennestri, in the Piramide area, a 5-minute walk from the metro station. I had a stunning cacio e pepe: just the right amount of creaminess, with a hint of pepper that made the dish incredibly aromatic and flavorful.
For my second course, I chose meatballs in tomato sauce with pecorino cheese and mint. They were incredibly tender, a typical comforting Roman dish; truly well-made.
A special mention goes to the waiters and staff: everyone was extremely kind and friendly, always smiling and helpful.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for everything: a romantic dinner, an evening with friends, or a special occasion. Highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful evening! The food was perfect, but what made our dinner so special was the service - every waiter and waitress was so friendly, presented each dish wonderfully, and helped us with choosing dishes and wines. The atmosphere is lovely and calm, but at the same time friendly and lively.

We stumbled upon this place by chance, and I have to say it was a stroke of luck. The staff was very nice, polite, and friendly. We ordered two first courses (amatriciana) and it was the best we've ever had! The coffee is also very good. The value for money is excellent. We'll definitely be back!

Very intimate and romantic atmosphere amidst a clean modern and warm design in this. modern trattoria which has a menu of Roman classics and what’s in season. Simple ingredients which was all cooked to perfection, well worthy of their Michelin bib gourmand, and service was welcoming and efficient, no fuss. We had fried brains to start, amatriciana and carbonara for pastas, sweetbread for mains with chocolate mousse to finish, will go back again when we revisit Rome.
