I have been a customer of the Osteria di Fornio for at least ten years, although I go about once a year due to the distance between my place of residence and Fidenza.
This restaurant is a real point of reference for good Emilian cuisine, expertly revisited by the chef in a more contemporary key, without however distorting it. At these levels of quality it is difficult to talk about dishes being better than others. However, I would like to point out the Buon Insieme menu, thanks to which we got to know the Osteria di Fornio years ago, which represents an excellent way to get to know the dishes of this place and its territory at 360°.
The welcome from the dining room staff was also genuine and professional, led by the friendly husband of the chef and co-owner. A service as warm as that of taverns and as attentive as that of an excellent restaurant.
Absolutely recommended and, without doubt, we will continue to return.

Passing through at midday, we decided to take a quick break in this tavern outside Fidenza known to the friend who was with me.
We ordered the caramelized onions and the giardiniera as an appetizer to share, very good indeed..
Then half sleeves stuffed with parmesan in capon broth, served by the owner who rightly defined this dish as "a caress from my mother"...
To finish, strawberries with Chantilly cream, all washed down with a very light Lambrusco, 9 degrees, served cold of your choice, in the glass or in a special bowl.
Spent 35 euros per person for this certainly high-quality Osteria.

The Michelin guide would give the rating “this restaurant is worth taking a detour”. Lots of Italian regulars. Reservations are recommended.
Tip: polenta strips as a starter.

Traveling along the Via Emilia between Alseno (Pc) and Fidenza (Pr), you come across a sign indicating Fornio km 2, a small hamlet with a few houses, the church, the cemetery and the Fornio tavern.
A building entirely in exposed brick.
Inside there is a welcoming decor, with an ancient and rustic flavor and with the kitchen in plain sight.
At table service, the young Lorenzo is the master, friendly and self-confident who recommends the best traditional Emilian dishes prepared in the kitchen by his mother, a chef of undoubted quality, ability and modernity in preparing the best dishes of the area which he renews from season to season.
In this atmosphere that smells of home, we start with the appetizers, the typical local cured meats: pancetta, salami, raw ham, culatello and coppa, all accompanied by fried polenta sticks that take me back to a now distant past when my grandmother first prepared them for me exactly the same and then my mother.
Subsequently we move on to the pasta first courses, all homemade, from tagliolini to mezze sleeves, true delights but not to overlook the others which all deserve a taste.
You are spoiled for choice!!
With notable variety and abundance, we approach the latter. All worthy of note, soft, tasty meats served with perfect cooking, you would be wrong not to enjoy them.
And finally, if you're not full yet, you can't miss one of the desserts, also diligently prepared by the chef. True delights for the eyes and the palate. A binge of creams, ice creams and other delicacies.
If you love flavours, peasant and local tastes of the past, this is your place, you will not be disappointed!!

Un paio di settimane fa io e mio marito siamo venuti a cena in questo ristorante carinissimo attirati dalle recensioni super positive! Una volta accomodati, abbiamo scelto un menù degustazione e un menù alla carta, acqua e due calici di vino. Già dagli antipasti si pregustava una cena deliziosa, erano abbondanti e gustosi, le famose mezze maniche al formaggio e i ravioli ripieni al culatello e ricotta meritano davvero la fama che hanno, sono pazzeschi!! Nel menù degustazione c’erano poi i guancialetti di maiale con patate e cipolle caramellate, teneri e buonissimi, infine abbiamo preso zuppa inglese per mio marito e il famoso gelato alla crema con zabaione, cioccolato fondente e parigine per me….INCREDIBILI!! A fine cena ci hanno fatto fare anche un giro nelle cantine, dove organizzano anche degustazioni e aperitivi. Che dire, la cena era ottima, il servizio impeccabile e il personale super gentile e disponibile, una famiglia che ha passione per quello che fa e lo fa benissimo!! Complimenti 😊

Excellent service, very friendly owners.
Unfortunately the photo of the sliced steak was taken late.....we had almost finished...it was excellent though.

Cibo ottimo, antipasto dell’osteria fantastico soprattutto perché si riescono ad assaggiare varie cose tutte buonissime, taglioni al culatello che si scioglievano in bocca. Che dire della tavolozza di dolci, indimenticabile tutto buonissimo e di altissima qualità. Personale simpatico e gentile ti fanno sentire a casa.
