Trattoria Maran In Varese

We had lunch at this trattoria with a panoramic view of Lake Varese. The carpione with lake fish was excellent. The rice with perch was sublime. Kudos to the girl who served us. Highly recommended.

In warm weather, you can enjoy lunch or dinner al fresco on a splendid terrace, which offers an enchanting view, shaded by majestic maples. From a gastronomic standpoint, there's nothing to complain about: the famous "Ris in Cagnun," the trattoria's signature dish, fully lived up to its reputation. The mixed lake fish appetizer was also excellent, well-prepared and of high quality. Unfortunately, a serious incident marred what could have been an excellent experience. Several customers, seated at nearby tables, smoked throughout the dinner despite a clearly displayed "No Smoking" sign. Even more shocking than the uncivilized behavior of these patrons was the attitude of the staff, who, despite our repeated reports, failed to intervene to enforce the ban. It's unacceptable for a business to display a smoking ban and then systematically let it go unenforced. Those who choose to dine al fresco do not forfeit their right to breathe clean air. For this reason, despite the excellent cuisine and splendid location, my overall opinion of the trattoria is inevitably reduced.

We had the rice in cagnone with perch, which was delicious. For our appetizer, we had a pike pie, which cost €16.00 instead of the €14.00 listed on the menu. The glass of Prosecco was completely flat; it was the end of the bottle. The staff was friendly. The terrace had a beautiful view and was very airy.

If you want to get away from the chaos, this is the ideal place. Quiet and peaceful, the view is beautiful, and the food is equally beautiful. The service is an absolute highlight; the girl who served us was very kind and smiling, and made us feel right at home. Recommended!

We came at dinner time and ate outside on the terrace. A lovely evening. We had excellent riso in cagnone with perch fillets, and then ordered some carpione lake fish. This place is renowned in the area for its perch rice and lake fish. The terrace overlooking the lake is beautiful at sunset. The staff is always friendly. Excellent service.

A pleasant evening with excellent food and a relaxing view of the lake. A trattoria, as the owners' philosophy dictates, not a restaurant. A word to the wise...

The service was too slow; two and a half hours for an appetizer and a main course for nine adults and six children is unacceptable. Clearly not adequate for the number of customers. The terrace is beautiful. The waiters are friendly.

Traditional tavern with a wide selection of lake fish dishes. We had a bit of a wait between appetizers and first courses, but each course was well-prepared and tasty. Plus, you can dine on a splendid terrace with a view. Recommended

Very good lunch. We had a mixed fish antipasto, two people had pasta and one had a a fish dish. Everything was tasty and fresh. Prices were reasonable for the area and view. The glass of white wine was fine, but the beer menu was more interesting. Happy we stopped here.
