Trattoria L'Assaggio In Chioggia

We popped in for a coffee for breakfast, but couldn't bring ourselves to leave, so we stopped for lunch, drawn by the family atmosphere and the delicious food displayed at the counter. Everything was excellent; it's truly pleasant to linger for an hour, if not longer, at the outdoor tables overlooking the fishing boats moored at the dock.

Our salmon lasagna looked and tasted like a convenience store product. Absolutely inedible. We returned the food and, when paying, informed the manager that the food wasn't good. He left with a smile and a shrug. No apology or any kind of response. Not recommended.

We had a very good meal here. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. Don't be put off, the tablecloth will be changed as soon as you're seated. Which I like, as it means you don't have to throw away unused tablecloths in the evening. It takes some getting used to, but it's definitely worth it. Thank you. The food was a dream; the squid rings and everything else were cooked to perfection. My wife really liked the lasagna, as she particularly enjoyed the salmon. I would have preferred a bit of pesto in between. But we all have different tastes, so everyone had something to their liking. The spaghetti was exactly what you'd expect in Italy and nowhere near comparable to the restaurant on our beach. It's a small restaurant, but it definitely falls into the "must-eat-there" category. We were there in the evening and were able to watch the fishermen and their boats. Thank you again for the great food, and we'd love to come back.

I can only praise this small restaurant! Mainly frequented by locals, the place isn't as overpriced as the "tourist traps." The service was very friendly, and thanks to Google Translate, communication was possible despite the language barrier. A special request (food that wasn't on the menu) for the children was also accommodated. Unfortunately, we couldn't try the homemade lemon sorbet because it was sold out... maybe next time. ;-) All in all, highly recommended if you don't care about upscale decor and a luxurious ambiance. ❤️

We happened upon this place by chance, and were pleasantly surprised. Excellent service, with smiling, kind and very helpful staff. Excellent variety of cicchetti. If we ever come back to Chioggia we will definitely come back. We highly recommend it.

Passeggiando sulla Fondamenta S. Domenico, ammirando i pescherecci, vediamo questo bar con i tavolini all'aperto affollati di gente del posto, ci fermiamo per uno spritz e due cicchetti di pesce veramente deliziosi, poi, guardando un tavolino accanto dove si stava servendo un primo piatto, abbiamo deciso di fermarci anche per pranzo ed abbiamo assaggiato spaghetti alle vongole ottimi, come fatti in casa, buon vino bianco fresco e frizzante, prezzo onesto...cosa vuoi di più!

Excellent homemade typical local food. €27 for 2 people. I'll be back when I'm in the area.
