A culinary gem: Trattoria Pomposa Al Re Gras in Modena
An evening at Trattoria Pomposa Al Re Gras is a feast for the senses. The menu is deliberately small – and for good reason: Everything here is homemade, fresh, prepared with passion, and to an impressively high standard.
The tortellini alone was an absolute highlight – by far the best I've ever eaten. Perfect pasta, excellent filling, served to perfection. Followed by eggplant meatballs in a wonderfully balanced tomato sauce – a vegetarian dish that tastes absolutely amazing. Simply sensational.
The highlight of the evening was dessert: a tiramisu like I've never experienced before – made with homemade panettone. A creative, aromatic interpretation of the classic that is second to none.
The evening was rounded off by the excellent service. Mr. Francesco was attentive, warm, and full of hospitality. Even though non-alcoholic beer wasn't on the menu, he made it possible—a small detail that says a lot about the quality of this establishment.
A place you have to experience—I'll definitely be back.

This is a michelin guide restaurant located inside of the old town Modena. Reservation highly recommended as it's michelin guide and affordable pricing, it offers variety of traditional Emilian cuisine.
the interior is cute, with pictures on the wall and all kinds of pots and pans hanging on the wall, feels like you step into some grandma's kitchen.
i had Gramigna with sausage that only cost 9euro , it's wheat pasta so it has a bit texture and chewy. but it's really my favorite
for the main course i tried the "Il Bollito" (5 cuts) and its sauces: chicken leg, cotechino pig's trotter sausage and beef tongue. highly recommend if you want to a taste of everything. the beef tongue are thick cut but really juicy and tender. my favorite is cotechino, which is a type of sausage only available in this region that uses pig trotter meat and skin , it's full of collagen. the checkin leg is the weak link in this dish , but overall very enjoyable.

An authentic Italian home-cooked meal, quality food and friendly service. It's places like this that remind us why we love Italian cuisine - the respect for the cuisine, quality of the ingredients, despite the fact that we were the only ones in the restaurant. The menu is small but well curated - try the tortellini with parmesan and the gnocco fritto selection. We also got the pork roast with potatoes - so succulent and the crispy potatoes soaked in pork fat were perfection. The server engaged us in conversation about the different cheeses from the region, and helped us select an excellent wine of good value. Overall a wonderful experience, and a shame it wasn't packed.

Visiting from New Zealand. Amazing service from the waiter Francesco. Impressed with the selection of food and wine including regional rarities like calzagatti. Fresh pasta delightful. Outdoor seating within a secluded town square. Will go back.

Visitado un viernes por la noche, reservamos temprano en el día. Nos sentamos fuera y tuvimos una bonita vista de la iglesia de enfrente. El servicio fue muy amable, sin prisas y muy bueno. La comida era excelente, tuvimos tagliatelle con ragu, lasaña y tortellini en una salsa crema parmesana, todos los cuales eran excelentes. Teníamos varios vinos, por copa, tinto, blanco espumoso y el tinto espumoso, de nuevo todo muy bueno. El tirimasu y el salami de chocolate fueron muy buenos, seguido de café. Esta fue una cena encantadora, y un gran ejemplo de la cocina local. Lo recomendaríamos mucho.
