Had a great time at Trattoria Der Pallaro. There is no menu so you eat what is served: a delicious array of very fresh, very Italian food. If you're looking for an authentic experience and good food, this is the place to go.

Old fashioned set a service, we serve you the food and you eat. No menu the food was delicious and it’s just keep on coming. Have a healthy appetite. Pay cash…

A true hidden gem! The multi-course menu is fantastic and more than ample! The house wine—it flows freely—tastes exquisite and is refilled again and again! This restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

I've known this trattoria since the 1970s. Its distinctive feature was a fixed menu of a few traditional dishes, but with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. Appetizer: tasteless lentils (and I don't eat savory), ovoline pasta that looked like it came straight from a supermarket bag, the raw fennel had been seasoned for too long and had lost its crunchiness. The prosciutto and meatballs, however, were excellent. First courses were good but not abundant. The meat-based main courses were still good, but the salad, like the fennel, had been seasoned too long ago. Dessert, while quite good, used to be accompanied by mandarin orange juice, now replaced by a supermarket-style fruit drink. The price, which has always been low for Rome, was explained by the fixed menu, and the quality of the dishes made it tempting to go. The service, however, was perfect.

Honestly, unsurpassed! Quick and courteous service. Simple but divinely prepared food! Perfect carbonara, cooked al dente, as was the amatriciana. Fantastic main courses and AMAZING fries. The house wine is a clean, red wine with no acidity. Recommended.

I was so happy to experience a local home-style restaurant featured on *World Theme Travel* at such an affordable price. Above all, it is truly delicious, and the portions are so generous that you will be incredibly full. You absolutely must visit if you come to Rome! Also, the owner is incredibly kind. They take such good care of Korean guests! Ten stars are not enough!
A truly authentic Roman experience—this is not your typical restaurant visit. There’s no menu, no ordering, and no customization. You sit down, and dishes simply start arriving. It’s very much “eat what the kitchen serves,” just like many Italians describe from traditional, home-style settings.
The food is hearty, classic Roman cuisine—simple, generous, and full of flavor. Portions keep coming, and the pacing feels natural rather than staged. It’s less about fine dining and more about immersion in a local, almost familial way of eating.
The atmosphere is lively, a bit chaotic, and unapologetically traditional. That’s part of the charm. If you’re looking for control or a curated menu, this isn’t the place. If you want to experience something genuinely local and unfiltered, it’s fantastic.
An amazing experience overall—come hungry, be open-minded, and enjoy eating like Italians do.
