They'd told us about it before we even left, so our expectations were high. Well...it exceeded all expectations. The quality of the food is excellent. You can taste the deliciousness, the products are local, and I must say, everything is excellent. The preparation and presentation of the dishes is meticulously crafted, and they provided clear information about their provenance. From the cheeses and cured meats to the starters and desserts, everything is top-quality and has unforgettable flavors. The local wine is also very good. Not too expensive either. Personally, I'd include it among the must-sees when visiting Matera. Carved into the white limestone rock typical of the area, the aesthetic result is remarkable.

Very friendly staff, the pasta was delicious. But we ordered a meat dish (entrecote) and it was terrible, plus it cost €30. We recommend not ordering meat.

Excellent food, especially the typical dairy dish. Overall, a great trattoria for enjoying typical Lucanian dishes.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is very friendly.

We were obviously tourists in a highly touristed local, so we were surprised to be treated dismissively by the wait staff. About ten tables were seated immediately after our table of two. Locals, or those speaking Italian, were given water, bread, and the evening’s specials before us. Our server was curt, unsmiling and bordering on rude. The food was meh. There are other places I would have tried if I had known the level of service.

Dining at Trattoria del Caveoso is always a pleasure.
The knowledgeable and friendly staff makes you appreciate the typical Sassi location even more.
The traditional and plentiful food is truly jaw-dropping.
Not to mention the wine to accompany it all.
I always return with great pleasure, especially when I bring friends visiting Matera for the first time.

Eccellente esperienza culinaria. Abbiamo preso solo due primi. Squisiti. Orecchiette cime di rapa e una pasta con pesto di cicoria. Ottimo! Da non togliere dalla bocca.

Matera es increíble y este local no le va a la zaga. Se come muy rico a un precio muy razonable. Es un restaurante al que te quedan ganas de volver .
