Trattoria del Caveoso In Matera

My partner and I dined here two nights ago. The food was top-notch, and the staff was friendly and professional. Special thanks to Arturo and Bea, who provided impeccable service and advice! I highly recommend it. Thanks again for everything, we'll be back!

My husband and I dined at this restaurant during our stay in Matera. I chose it based on the reviews, and we were absolutely delighted, both with the food (for example, you can taste the quality of the ingredients even with the appetizer) and the service. The staff is very attentive and polite. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming, and the place is clean. I highly recommend it.

Atmosphere was just ok. We came in at opening and they asked us if we could be done by 9….which want a problem but weird to ask that. I asked for a dry red as the house wine was fruity. The waiter recommended some dry red from the wine menu and I decided on a bottle for 19e. My precise with sausage crumbles was very tasty but my wife got a “soup”…cereal that was bland with fava beans. Her cod bacclava was not fresh and probably microwaved A little disappointing. A got a meat platter that was terrible and probably reheated. When we got the bill I was charged 32e for the bottle not 19e. I didn’t complain and we just left. Not a good experience.

A beautiful place. Everyone was very kind and friendly. Skewers, ravioli, and cruschi peppers...all the dishes we ordered were delicious!

Highly recommended. The food was excellent. Both the first and second courses. Generous dishes. Exceptional ingredients, and the house red (by the bottle) is very drinkable. My only complaint: for a bill of €70.50, rounded down, I don't think it will change your life, but it will leave an even more pleasant taste in the mouth for those who have passed by.

An exceptional experience at Trattoria Caveoso. We had lunch there, and it was a real discovery. The first courses are simply amazing: authentic flavors, traditional Matera recipes executed to perfection, and generous portions that speak of home and the local area. Quality ingredients, impeccably cooked pasta, and balanced seasonings enhance every bite. The second courses and side dishes are also top-notch, as is the well-selected wine. All this is complemented by a charming, warm, and characteristic location in the Sassi, and by friendly, attentive, and genuine service that makes you feel immediately welcome. A place where you eat truly well and where you can breathe in the soul of Matera. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back!

Of the two evenings spent in Matera, both were spent at Trattoria del Caveoso. A wonderful place, both in terms of its ambiance and the people who run it, from the waiters to the owners. The food is excellent, with ingredients sourced from local farms, incredible preparation, and generous portions. Affordable prices. You can tell when your work is done with love!

Today we had lunch in this restaurant but for us it is a restaurant that deserves stars very good food very friendly and qualified staff very welcoming environment and transmits excellent tranquility we will definitely return

Dine in the charming stone belly of a Matera Sasso. A wide selection of traditional dishes, carefully prepared. Impeccable service. The owners' presence is priceless, always available to chat with customers, treated like friends. Perfect even for those who don't eat meat.

There were two of us for lunch, and the overall experience was very positive. The service was excellent: attentive, friendly, and never intrusive. The place is very charming, well-kept, and welcoming. We started with an appetizer of local cured meats and cheeses, which were truly delicious and of high quality. We were also completely impressed with the first courses: orecchiette alla materana and paccheri with cruschi peppers, flavorful and well-prepared. The only negative was the pork rolls, which unfortunately didn't impress us and were below expectations compared to the rest of the dinner. Overall, however, it was a great experience, with well-presented traditional dishes and a pleasant atmosphere. Recommended, especially for the first courses and appetizers.
