I waited in line to eat and got a red number. When I went in, I chose a course. It was home-cooked, but it really felt like home-cooked food. I ate well. 1. Spaghetti 2. Seafood or meat 3. Dessert. Tiramisu was delicious. It looked like a stew, but it tasted similar. The seafood soup was a little salty, but when I ate it together, the flavors were alive and it went well together. It was better because I could eat a variety of things since the portions weren't too big. The price wasn't expensive, so I ate all of it and it came out to 50 euros. It was a good experience in Pisa. I'm tired of tourist food, so I highly recommend this place. But you have to go early. The line is long and the restaurant is small, so you'll have to wait a long time.

Per mangiare da Stelio devi armarti di pazienza e prepararti a vivere una esperienza a tutto tondo. Si prende il numero e si aspetta di essere chiamati da Silvia, la cameriera simpatica ed efficiente che si alterna in sala con Maurizio, uno dei tre figli del fondatore, Stelio, che porta avanti con i fratelli l'attività fondata dai genitori ormai 60 anni fa. Ogni gruppo prende un numero e ci si adatta sulla base dei tavoli che nel frattempo si liberano. Nell'attesa si comincia a studiare il menù dalla lavagna. C'è davvero un ricco campionario della cucina tradizionale toscana, di terra e di mare, con ampia scelta di primi secondi contorni e anche gustosi dessert Qualche recensione scrive che sembra di mangiare a mensa: tutt'altro! Entrando vieni accolto e accompagnato, con semplicità e professionalità, a gustare i piatti del giorno oppure i classici del menù. Il vino della casa è sincero e si fa bere. Con circa 20 euro a persona si mangia un pasto completo di primo secondo contorno dessert e caffè o ponce, bevande incluse. Si apprezza molto anche il clima familiare e gioviale del locale e la scelta di mantenere una tradizione, senza cedere alle sirene del turismo mordi e fuggi che anche a Pisa ormai ha spazzato via da tempo ogni traccia di "tipicità". È aperto solo a pranzo dal lunedì al venerdì e in cucina c'è ancora la moglie di Stelio e lui stesso passa tra i tavoli a raccontare aneddoti di questo luogo un po' magico dove il tempo sembra essersi fermato e tutto è ancora autentico.

Una rarità. Da Stelio si assaporano, sì, cibi veramente buoni ma soprattutto si vive una (ormai rara) accoglienza. Si è accolti, infatti, e quel sapore di umanità fa la differenza. Noto per il "numerino" da prendere se il locale è al completo, vale la pena aspettare. Simpatici, onesti, bravi a cucinare. Un pezzo di storia della ristorazione, di cibo popolare (a me piace dare questo significato), che passando fra i tavoli lo stesso Stelio, figlio d'arte e oggi novantenne, coniuga attraverso un racconto "filosofico" di ciò che è tuttuno tra cultura del cibo e senso dell'ospitalità. Bravi. Bravi Stelio e la moglie (ancora) in cucina, bravo Maurizio, il figlio, in sala. Simpatica e grintosa Silvia, anche lei a servire i clienti con precisione e attenzione. Lo consiglio. What a wonderful restaurant!!! We read the reviews, so knew it would be worth waiting. It's small & lively, packed with friendly locals and excited tourists. They bring a menu on a chalkboard in either Italian or English. You chose the number of courses you want or just order individual plates. Wine was fantastic & inexpensive. The food was OUTSTANDING!! Honestly, this was the best meal we've had in our 2 months in Italy. The original owner still comes in to visit during meals. He's delightful. The prices are shockingly low. Our entire bill, with 2 pasta dishes, 2 pork dishes, 500 ml wine, bread, dessert, and espresso was under $40. I would return to Pisa just to eat at this restaurant.

Fabulous lunch. Very busy, arriving at 1.20 for lunch, there was a number of parties waiting outside. The restaurant has a ticket system and then seats parties in order as tables become available. You pick how many courses and select a first and second course. The food was delicious with the just the right size serves to leave room for the deserts. Great value for money, quick service and fantastic atmosphere.

Historic place, and above all beyond the cuisine which is indisputable, homely and very good. The friendliness of the owners, Stelio and his wife, who at the age of 90 he and she, a little less, of the children and the staff, make this place timeless, a true refuge from the daily tram tram.

We discovered it online and it was one of the best restaurants we ate at in Italy! A family-run, typically Italian establishment. Everything we ate and drank was five stars.

Just a ten minute walk from Pisa’s Leaning Tower is this family-run, super authentic Tuscan spot. Enjoyed a terrific lunch and were delighted to meet the husband Stelio & wife Gracia who have spent the last 59 years in this Pisa culinary institution.
