Trattoria da Rocco is an institution in Florence! The place is unique in its kind: you dine sitting at the same tables with unknown people, in a welcoming, friendly and absolutely fun atmosphere. It is an experience that combines the taste for food with the joy of conviviality. Rocco himself is an iconic character, known by all, who knows how to make the meal a special moment. Today, Christmas Eve, I enjoyed a delicious tomato soup, followed by penne with bacon, a tender pork loin with roast potatoes and a creme brulee which was the icing on the cake. All accompanied by bottled wine, laughter and jokes in the company of people I didn't know before, but who seemed like old friends. An unforgettable experience, full of joy and authentic flavours. Ten out of ten for this place which represents a true Florentine soul. If you are in Florence, Rocco is a must!

Classic Tuscan dishes in an informal and highly pleasant environment. Excellent and very friendly staff. The peposo is very tasty. Prices more than acceptable. Yesterday four of us had two peposos, a stew with potatoes, tripe, lampredotto, a flask of wine.

Chiara, her father and grandfather Rocco are special people who make you enjoy lunch and be satisfied with having chosen their restaurant. All dishes super from the first to the dessert. Thanks and see you soon!

We went because it looked authentic and cheap and while the food was delicious (albeit small, but 7.50 for primo patti so that's fair), the service was subpar. We requested a table just before 3pm and they seemed unenthusiastic to serve us. One of the wait staff was fine while the other was very curt and before we finished our waters, had cleaned away our paper placemats (I get it, you want to close! But be less obvious about it). And we ordered a creme caramel (felt a little pressured) that I saw came straight out of a container and it didn't sit right in our stomachs. Wouldn't come back again but we maybe just got unlucky. Do recommend the lasagna pasta and eggplant ragu.

My husband and I came here for lunch today somewhat by chance. We were welcomed and served by an attentive, welcoming and super-fast gentleman, who we later discovered was Mr. Rocco. Excellent and plentiful food. Three generations who have been running this beautiful family business admirably for years. My father, who was a stonemason for the Municipality of Florence, often came to the Sant'Ambrogio market, he loved the spontaneity and tradition emanating from the place. In some respects today something has changed but places like this Trattoria pleasantly send you back to the past. They remain and remain the beating heart of this beautiful Florence of ours. Excellent restaurant dans le marché de Sant' Ambrogio.. Peu de choix de plats. Les pâtes sont excellentes et le service est parfait
