The food is delicious and the atmosphere is not bad, but it is a bit hectic because it is inside a market.

A typical atmosphere in the heart of a covered market, with a warm, family welcome far removed from tourist traps. The food is simple, good, and hearty, excellent value for money, and the service is quick and friendly. A welcome break after sightseeing. Just steps away from a small flea market.

The restaurants in the Sant'Ambrogio market are quite affordable and authentic, offering genuine Tuscan home-style cuisine. This time, I ordered farfalle pasta with a rich, flavorful red sauce made from bacon, onions, and tomatoes, served with a hummus soup. Besides chickpeas, the soup also contained small pieces of tubular pasta, making it very satisfying.
I highly recommend the caramelized pear. The whole pear is candied, with a crispy caramelized surface, and served with a caramel dipping sauce – the most amazing dessert!

If you're looking for a genuine experience in terms of food, ambiance, and service, head to lunch at Rocco, a Tuscan trattoria located inside the Sant'Ambrogio market, in the Sant'Ambrogio neighborhood in central Florence. You'll enjoy authentic Tuscan cuisine, served with warmth and simplicity in an authentically casual setting. Ask the staff for recommendations; they're all friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The desserts are also worth trying—they're delicious! Be prepared to share a table with other customers; that's part of the place's charm: what could be better than chatting with tourists from all over the world or Florentines on their lunch break? PS: Don't be put off by a long line; it moves quickly, even on busy days.

Authentic, but a bit pricey.
Nestled in the Sant’Ambrogio market, this restaurant charms with its Tuscan cuisine and homemade dishes (ribollita, peposo, trippa, etc.).
The unpretentious and convivial atmosphere evokes family meals where everyone chats.
But be warned: while the prices are reasonable for Florence, certain details, such as the quantity/price ratio, shared tables, and closely packed benches, give the impression of paying a bit too much. The ultra-fast service isn't suitable for those who want to take their time. The lampredotto with its sauce and the caramelized poached pear are two must-try specialties that are particularly appreciated.
Verdict: A place to experience for its authenticity, provided you're willing to accept a few compromises! Perfect for a typical, unpretentious meal.

Good, nothing exceptional, friendly staff, classic Tuscan cuisine, but too expensive for sharing a table at a market. €13 for three meatballs, a steal. There are places nearby where you can eat better for a third of the price!

Lunch break on a workday at the bustling Sant'Ambrogio market. A delightful glimpse into the real Florence, with professionally prepared traditional dishes.

Lovely local eatery. Waitress to quick taking orders though. Great place to share table with a local and have a chat.

A perfect spot for a quick lunch in the middle of the market, but less improvised than other places, with table service and a fully visible kitchen. It's popular with Florentines. The staff's cheerfulness and kindness are noteworthy. I only had a ribollita, a medium portion, and appreciable home-style cooking. I'd go back!
