A typical local trattoria as we know it. Very friendly service, many guests at a busy intersection, but far away from tourism, therefore cheap prices. I haven't eaten anything. Dolce far niente!

Even though Palermo is a mecca for street food, I couldn't leave without trying pasta, so I went to a local trattoria. A trattoria is a restaurant lower than a restaurant.
It's a trattoria with an unpretentious atmosphere that reminds me of a Baekban restaurant, and I got the feeling that it would serve cozy home-cooked meals. There were many elderly customers who came alone, but the pose they exuded made them seem like regulars.
After searching for popular menu items, I ordered at least one item each from Antipasti, Primi, and Sekondi. I ordered beer and white wine, but the total price was only 27 euros.
Compared to the antipasti and caponata I had at Salumeria the day before, the eggplant had more moisture, making it more moist overall. It reminded me of ratatouille, but it had a more refreshing feel.
I tried two types of pasta with Primiro, and the sardine pasta was overwhelmingly delicious. The sardine pasta is served with toasted breadcrumbs and cheese, and you can sprinkle it to suit your taste.
I remember that the price of pasta was around 5 euros, and the noodles were dried, not fresh. Even if I used fresh noodles just by chance, the taste of sardines is so strong that it doesn't seem to go well with it.
When you mix the noodles well with the chopped sardines, the noodles mix and the umami flavor permeates the noodles, and it is as savory as loach stew. The slight fishy smell was completely covered by the breadcrumbs and cheese.
The other pasta was topped with boiled potatoes and a little pork, and was eaten with just a light sprinkle of cheese. It looks a bit empty because there is no sauce, but the potato starch makes it a thick sauce.
In fact, it is difficult to consider the potato starch as a complete sauce, but it felt like the subtle sweetness of the potatoes penetrated the noodles. However, because it was so light yet heavy, I had to sprinkle a lot of cheese on it.
For Sekondiro, I chose grilled sea bream because I was drawn to seafood rather than meat, and as is typical in Italy, I grilled it without sparing any olive oil. The size of the sea bream was large, and as you can see from the skin, the grilling was excellent.
The skin had the perfect crunchy texture and salty taste, and the thick white flesh was evenly moist from head to toe. The olive oil added flavor and had a distinct presence.

Here we were welcomed as friends. The atmosphere and the food are wonderful and authentic. The prices are fair. Absolutely charming Italian family restaurant that has been around for 65 years. There is no menu, so just try it out and let the friendly staff guide you
Help boss - you can't make any mistakes here, everything is fine. We will come again!

A Must-go-to restaurant in Palermo. The nicest host we’ve experienced in Palermo, the best and most authentic Sicilian food for the best prices.
Please go there, book in advance and enjoy the lovely people from Trattoria da Pino.
Don’t be skeptical with the fact that there’s no menu - it’s because the food is always fresh and changing with season and availability.
