Trattoria da Mario In Catania

I was not that crazy about Trattoria da Mario. First of all the service was a bit strange! When we came we were told to sit whereever as it was empty but then it turned out that they just assumed that we belonged to a larger group that they were expecting. We were placed outside which was fine and as the menu is fixed, the food was served fast. We got a lot of starters and some of them were great! But in my opinion there was too much food and hence a lot of food waste. A bottle of wine was included and the red wine was just OK and served to cold in my opinion. As a main it was possible to choose between various types of meat and I had the horse. This was fine but it was the thinnest piece of meat that I have ever had. All in all, you do get a lot for the money but I prefer to go to a restaurant where you can order a la carte instead of this concept. That is on me of course - I should have done my homework before going to this place.

Nothing to say, except that it is one of the best restaurants in Catania.

The price to value is absolutely amazing! The food itself however is less than mediocre. The staff is friendly but everything feels rushed. I wouldn't go here again, but if you are in Sicily, are low on budget and really hungry, then this is an amazing place!

A place recommended by many. All the appetizers were great. The main course was very average. Very greasy.

We were there last week, it was a Wednesday, and it was completely packed. I think it's by reservation only. We sat down, and soon after, all sorts of delicacies arrived: baked ricotta, cheese and cured meat platters, olives, aubergine meatballs, and more. Everything was delicious. Afterwards, you could order meat for the modest sum of 20 euros per person. What can I say? We were all so satisfied that we even took away everything that was left. I'll definitely be back.

Great experience, lots of food, spectacular service! I think it would be nice if people weren't allowed to smoke electronic cigarettes inside though. The smoke/vapor makes me dizzy. 🫤

The appetizers were delicious, but unfortunately the meat was soaked in oil, which I personally don't like. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Fantastic 😍 with 20 euros we had red wine, water, lots of starters, a second course of meat of your choice and finally sorbet or limoncello 😋 fast service, abundant and super good dishes

We spent a lovely evening in the company of friends and we ate lots of starters and a second course of meat, truly excellent quality, the staff were very kind, fast and precise, compliments to all the staff

I will definitely be back, Mr. Mario and his sons are top.
