Wonderful trattoria.
Alessandra's smile and natural kindness (in multiple languages!), the behind-the-scenes work of Mara and her assistant, the cozy, family atmosphere... Everything complements the Triestine cuisine, delicious and unpretentious here. We would have returned the next evening if we could!

My wife and I had dinner together. Everything was delicious, including the typical dishes. The five stars also go to the kindness and smile of the young waitress who served us. Kudos to you for your excellent work!

Excellent restaurant serving traditional Friulian cuisine. It's a small place (so be sure to book for 7 or 9 pm), with a limited but high-quality menu: the frico and polenta are delicious.
(And the prices are reasonable, so we went twice in a row).

This place is a must. But reserve!! We tried to go in February on a random Tuesday but we couldn’t get a table. We went a couple days ago and it was truly an incredible meal. Get the Cjarsons! The staff are so friendly, it’s like being in someone’s home. The food was so fresh and really reasonably priced for the portion size and quality. Cannot recommend enough

There were three of us. We ate really well. The first, second, and desserts were all excellent. Homemade style, carefully prepared.

We searched for a traditional restaurant with good food, and we found this gem. The atmosphere is immediately welcoming; there are just a few tables, just the right number to give you a special experience. The woman in the dining room is very welcoming, and the food is delicious and full of bold flavors. We also met Mara, who is a wonderful hostess who welcomes you and makes you feel special. If we ever return to Trieste, we will definitely eat here. Highly recommended if you're looking for a special and unique experience.

We went to Trattoria Mara for lunch because we were looking for traditional dishes from Trieste and Friuli, and we were more than happy with our choice. We ordered bread gnocchi with goulash, casjon, and jota—all three different dishes, but delicious and exquisite. Signora Mara is a kind, welcoming, and friendly host, as well as an excellent cook who takes pride in preparing her dishes by hand and according to tradition. We also tried the gubana for dessert, which we absolutely slew. We highly recommend the trattoria and hope to return if we ever return to Trieste!
