Abbiamo festeggiato la notte del 31 dicembre mangiando in questo ristorante con amici. Atmosfera familiare, cameriera molto gentile e simpatica. Proprietaria sempre presente e interessata ai suoi ospiti. Abbiamo mangiato bene, il goulash servito al posto della guancia di maialino (non scelta) , era buonissimo, vale la pena andare solo per assaggiarlo :) Purtroppo ho trovato il costo esagerato. I piatti serviti per il cenone sono quelli che sono presenti nel menù di ogni serva ma aumentare così il costo solo perchè è il 31 dicembre l'ho trovato esagerato. A parte questo particolare, lo consiglio perchè si mangia bene e l'atmosfera è molto familiare e accogliente.

4/5 choices between starters, first courses and second courses.
The service was a bit slow, the appetizers arrived immediately (we also took the frico which arrived too quickly in fact it was lukewarm...) while for the first courses we waited a long time, too long, with the aggravating circumstance that our neighbors of table, who ordered after us, received their dishes first.
The food however was good, you could see that it was made with passion, home cooking.
Let's get to the price. There were 7 of us:

½ liter of house red wine

1 second
Bread (very good homemade) and covered.

Il servizio è stato un po' lento, gli antipasti sono arrivati subito (abbiamo preso anche il frico che è arrivato troppo velocemente infatti era tiepido...) mentre per i primi abbiamo atteso tanto, troppo, con l'aggravante che i nostri vicini di tavolo, che hanno ordinato dopo di noi, ricevevano prima i loro piatti.
Il cibo comunque era buono, si vedeva che era fatto con passione, una cucina casalinga.

We returned to Mara again, and truthfully, we left satisfied again. Dishes cooked to perfection. It's a shame that the dish of the day wasn't suggested to us, which I would have gladly appreciated. Genuine and balanced flavors like in the pharmacy. Well done everyone! Until next time

Mrs. Mara treated us very well, warm, welcoming and informal environment. Simple but delicious food, like the flavors of the past. We will be back again next year

Very nice and convivial place, it feels like being at grandma's house.
Typical Friulian products. We ate cjarsons and frico with polenta and they were excellent.
The cutting board was disappointing.
I recommend the sweet Gubana.
Reservation is mandatory because the place is very small.

Spectacular food, the room is small but the service and the girls are so well organized that it takes second place. If I ever return to Trieste I will definitely return

At dinner, my partner and I. Neither she nor I are tourists, I'm from Trieste and she's from Friuli.
Nice place, very small, packed tables. We had a really uncomfortable and sacrificed place.
Good food I must say, though:
Tavern service, knives with red plastic handles that we would be ashamed to present to a guest at home.
As already reported by others, small portions (the frico was accompanied by two spoons, literally, of polenta). The goulash was good, not exceptional, the meat was slightly stringy. Very small portion.
Good salami appetizer with vinegar, again small portion.
In summary, 1 starter, 2 second courses, 2 vegetables, half a liter of water and half a liter of wine €65.
Service and location like a tavern, prices like a restaurant, like most places in the center of Trieste now.
Sorry, really off target: for that price you eat in the well-known Trieste restaurant with local specialties and a completely different service and location.
