We had a wonderful time; the atmosphere was small but welcoming, Mrs. Mara was incredibly kind, and the staff were friendly. Add to this some Trieste specialties that my wife and I weren't familiar with (we tried everything!): Gialsons, Jota, the award-winning potato frico, goulash, and finally 😋 the Gubana with warm grappa! Book early!

A trip to Trieste without visiting Trattoria da Mara is possible, but pointless. It's always a wonderful experience! The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. You feel right at home. Unfortunately, it's no longer a hidden gem, so be sure to book well in advance.

A truly spectacular lunch! The atmosphere was intimate and welcoming. We stumbled upon this trattoria by chance, and even though it was already 2 pm (closing time) and the place was packed, Mrs. Mara sat us down anyway, allowing us to discover this little place that has left our hearts aching. Mrs. Mara and her staff took care of us, guiding us on an unparalleled culinary experience. My husband and I ordered gnocchi with ragù, cjarsons, cappellacci stuffed with wild boar ragù, frigo e polenta, and beef goulash, and we couldn't choose which we liked best—everything was delicious! We washed it all down with a delicious house Friulano, and to finish, berry cheesecake and gubana, which were also spectacular. We've already promised Mrs. Mara we'll return in the fall, despite being 700 km away from our home. 🤩 The price was truly fair for what we ate and drank!

A very welcoming traditional trattoria. Mara and Alessandra are attentive and friendly, making the service a delight. The dishes are carefully prepared, the bread gnocchi with goulash are excellent, and the Gubana with grappa is phenomenal. Thank you, we'll be back and... we'll book again.

Our experience was really great at Trattoria da Mara. We had insalata mista, orzoto di verdure, frico con polenta and tiramisu. Everything tasted really good and homemade. The service was also great. It is definitely a place where you can taste authentic cuisine from Friuli in a cozy atmosphere. It is a family business, they do care to give their best to the client.. that makes it definitely a 5 stars place.

A typical trattoria with just a few tables, and Mara is an exceptional hostess. The dishes are traditional and very tasty. The waitress is very kind and always smiling. Must try.
